About our organisation

Wyser are AI experts specialising in working with advice giving organisations providing digital transformation using artificial intelligence and automation. We have extensive experience working with highly regulated markets and organisations that provide complex services, including ombudsmen, nationwide dispute resolution services, the public sector, and the third sector. We're using cutting edge technology to make a real difference to organisations who historically have often struggled to benefit early from technological developments such as AI. If you want your work to matter, we're the right organisation for you.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and creative Prompt Engineer / Junior Data Scientist to join our growing team. In this role, you will design and refine prompts for summarisation tasks using large language models (LLMs). You'll contribute to building effective NLP pipelines, analysing model outputs, and presenting insights that drive product and research decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate prompt strategies to generate summaries tailored to different client needs and stylistic guidelines.
  • Iterate on prompt engineering based on qualitative feedback to improve the quality, clarity, and relevance of outputs.
  • Collaborate with developers to define evaluation criteria for summarisation outputs.
  • Create clear, informative data visualisations to communicate technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate your findings with technical and non-technical staff and clients.
  • Familiar with agile processes such as sprint planning, review, and retrospectives and experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Support client communication by translating vague or ambiguous needs into structured, effective prompts.

Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in Python, with experience using data visualisation libraries such as Matplotlib and Seaborn.
  • Basic understanding of natural language processing (NLP) concepts and large language model (LLM) behaviour.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering principles and how prompt design impacts LLM output quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Exceptional written English and a strong grasp of grammar, tone, and nuance.
  • Experience working with ASR systems or analysing speech data is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in agile, collaborative environments.

Tech Stack & Tools

  • Programming:Python
  • API/Backend:FastAPI
  • Databases:MongoDB
  • Data Visualisation:Matplotlib, Seaborn
  • Other Tools:Familiarity with NLP tools and frameworks, prompt engineering strategies, and working with large language models (LLMs)

Who You Are

  • You’re curious and thoughtful, with a desire to understand how humans and machines communicate.
  • You care about detail—whether that’s in a chart, a model output, or a sentence.
  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you can learn and make a meaningful impact.

Applicants must be located within the UK. We are unable to sponsor visa applicants. Job posting will close once sufficient applications have been received.
