ThisPrincipal Power Electronics Engineerrole is working for anElectronics ManufacturerinAndover. The role offersworking hours of Monday - Thursday 8:30am to 5pm, and early Friday finish Friday of 3:30pm.The role ispaying up to £60,000 depending on experience.
The Principal Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and development of power electronics systems, including semiconductor power modules (SiC and GaN), DC/DC and DC/AC converters, gate drivers, and associated components like DC-link capacitors. They will oversee power module qualification testing to industry standards, produce technical documentation, and ensure designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The role involves extensive use of modelling and simulation tools for circuit and thermal analysis, as well as schematic capture and PCB/DBC/AMB layout. The role requires mentoring junior engineers, supporting safety and compliance measures, and fostering cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
You will need:
- Proven experience in the design of semiconductor power modules and converters
- To be proficient in the use of simulation and design tools such as Matlab, Simulink and Altium
- To ideally be qualified to at least MEng/MSc level in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Experience with automotive traction drives is desired
- To be willing to mentor other engineers and collaborate with cross functional teams
