Role Overview

As a member of the Liquidnet Market Data team, you will be responsible for multi-vendor market data feeds, middleware/infrastructure, Solace appliance/messaging and data types including low latency market data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to work with the latest cutting-edge technologies across major market data providers in the field today. The successful candidate will also support internal Product Support and Development Technology team with our applications.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years’ experience in a similar role from the financial services or banking industry.

We are seeking an experienced Market Data Infrastructure Engineer to help ensure stability and continued growth of our global infrastructure.  The role requires hands-on knowledge of various distributed market data platforms, with great Linux scripting, networking, and project management experience.

Role Responsibilities

  • Market Data & Solace CI/CD: Support and continually refine current Market Data Infrastructure hardware and software packages/configurations/scripts
  • Market Data & Solace BAU Support & Troubleshoot: Quickly identify, communicate, and resolve issues in global production environments.  Maintain functionality of the enterprise market data infrastructure 24x7x365, adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Diagnosis & Escalation: Performing diagnosis for all issues pertaining to the market data platform and escalate to the global Product Support teams when issues are affecting the production environment
  • Manage and Lead Projects: The ability to manage complex and large-scale technical solutions.  Excellent organization skills e.g., ability to prioritize and multitask, lead technical projects, and complete the project within defined timescales 
  • System Monitoring & Alert Response: Respond to and investigate infrastructure monitoring alerts in collaboration with internal Network, Linux and PS teams and external vendors
  • After-Hours Support: Ability to work early or late (flexible shifts); the position involves being third-level escalation 24/7, including after-hours/weekend maintenance and implementation work
  • Global Support Coordination: Collaborate with regional teams, such as Product Support, Linux, Network and Vendors in AMER, APAC and EMEA to maintain the global Market Data Infrastructure 
  • ITIL Process: Work well in a dynamic demanding environment that follows ITIL processes and policies like Incident Management, Change Management, Service Design and Service Operations while demonstrating strong interest in emerging tools and technologies within the industry.
  • Communication & Presentation: Excellent organizational, verbal interaction and writing skills, good presentation skills 

Experience / CompetencesEssential

  • Must have minimum of 7 years in-depth experience with market data infrastructures such as Bloomberg BPIPE, EMRS, BLPAPI, Redline, Solace, TREP, ITRS Geneos and Corvil.
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Admin knowledge of RedHat Linux, hardware, including low-latency / high-throughput tuning, kernel and interface configurations, bash/perl/python scripting.
  • Good understanding and firsthand experience of Solace Message VPN & Bridge setup, client profile and ACL setup, Solace failover, CLI & SolAdmin tool use and Solace event & system logs.
  • Working knowledge & experience network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast) and networking/connectivity troubleshooting skills
  • Good understanding of Equity and Fixed Income markets.
  • Excellent problem skills within the Market Data and Solace environments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating directly with vendors and exchanges.
  • Proven project management skills.

Non-Essential

  • A ruthless approach towards automation
  • Experience in programming or scripting languages
  • Experience supporting message-based architecture
  • AWS Certification to ‘Cloud Practitioner’ level or above or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing
  • Experience with industry-standard monitoring tools (ITRS or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
  • Experience working within an ITIL framework, ideally with ITIL Foundation qualification
