Principal Hardware EngineerAs a Principal Hardware Engineer you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to formulate and optimise innovative hardware engineering solutions, for products such as Helmet Mounted & Head Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Controls, Active Inceptors and other associated safety-critical technology.This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with innovating cutting edge projects as a member of a very experienced diverse team, with the view to progressing your career in this industry.Your main responsibilities will involve:Executing complex hardware design tasks in accordance with the hardware development plan, whilst meeting agreed timescales and allocated budgetsConducting hardware requirements capture, preliminary design, detailed design including a range of analysis tasksAdopting an innovative approach to design and identifying improvements to working practicesProviding technical guidance and supportCoaching & developing the skills of junior team membersDelivering design artefacts in accordance with company and industry standardsWorking with other disciplines within an integrated teamYour skills and qualifications:Degree/HND in electronics engineering or an equivalent qualificationProven working knowledge and experience of digital &/or analogue electronics technologiesExperience of working through the engineering development lifecycle, from concept to product certificationCapable of providing robust engineering judgement in all phases of the engineering development lifecycleRobust understanding of product design and work package control Working knowledge of the following tools would be advantageous:Mentor Graphics Expedition EnterpriseAnalogue simulations tools, e.g. Simetrix or SpiceTiming designer tools, e.g. ChronologySignal integrity tools and principlesSystem development tools, e.g. Enterprise Architect, Matlab, SimulinkRequirements management tools, e.g. DOORSWhat we're looking for in you:A self-starter with excellent interpersonal skillsAble to work collaborativelyAn inquisitive mind-set, with good problem-solving skillsHave good relationship management skillsArticulate, with good written and verbal communication skillsAbility to peer review & technically guide the work of othersSolid organisational skills with specific emphasis on attention to detailExperienced in stakeholder managementA desire for learning and self-development
