A very well-funded AI start-up, with presence across Europe, US and the Middle East, is looking for a Principal Data Scientist/MLE, who's an expert in Optimisation.


Having just raised one of the largest Series A funding rounds in the sector, they are looking to make a number of strategic senior hires to help take the business to the next level.


This pivotal role merges cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and advanced machine learning to automate and deploy sophisticated computational models focused on optimisation across various industries. You will lead the innovation in optimisation algorithms, enhancing the company's product offering with a focus on efficiency and problem-solving at scale.



✅ Must have requirements:

  • Experience designing and deploying cutting edge optimisation algorithms that excel in solving complex problems in areas such as logistics, scheduling, resource allocation, and network design
  • Experience designing and deploying scalable and adaptable optimisation solutions that deliver tangible improvements and efficiencies, leveraging the latest in machine learning and operations research
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams to transition optimisation model prototypes into optimised, scalable, and fully integrated applications that drive significant business value
  • Expertise in Python and SQL
  • Significant experience with optimisation libraries (e.g. PuLP, Gurobi, CPLEX)
  • Strong cloud expertise - ideally AWS
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Github Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline)
  • Great written and verbal communication skills


Bonus points for:

  • Experience leading complex projects that focus on optimisation, demonstrating an ability to mentor teams and manage cross-functional projects effectively
  • Experience integrating optimisation with machine learning techniques (using TensorFlow, PyTorch) to enhance decision-making processes and model performance
  • Having worked in a rapidly growing, product-focused start-up
  • Strong academic pedigree (MSc or PhD) in a related field
  • A strong understanding of AI ethics and privacy considerations, especially in the context of time series data
  • Exposure to geospatial data sets
  • Understanding of consumer behaviour and operational decision data
  • Exposure to time series and/or simulation
