Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a PIM Engineer to join our team, the role will involve the below responsibilities and challenges:

To lead and deliver technical and coding changes to the PIM application prioritised in the backlog 

To deliver solution design options and recommendations with changes to the data model and the PIM application where necessary 

To drive continuous improvement and seek out efficiencies and functional enhancements, delivering proofs of concept where necessary to validate 

To understand the impact of functional changes in PIM (functional and data) on related product platforms and integrations, i.e. to have the end-to-end view of the product data lifecycle 

Data expertise of the scientific data attributes and their behaviour within the PIM data model and across the wider product data ecosystem 

To work in collaboration with the offshore support team and product data architect to influence design and architectural improvements 

To work in collaboration with the Digital architecture and technology teams to understand and influence PIM’s role across the wider solution architecture and product data related applications 

Supports delivery of business rule changes 

Supports the triage and implementation of fixes for incident management 

Supports the offshore team to maintain and improve stability and technical reliability of PIM 

Understands the underlying data model and schema design and influences and delivers change to schemas 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate may have much of this experience; 

Knowledge of integration technologies such as MuleSoft and Kafka 

Knowledge of PHP and Symfony 5.0 applications 

Knowledge of scientific item data 

Relevant experience working in a scientific data management capacity (preferably e-commerce environment) or life science experience in general 

Experience of working alongside data architects, data engineers, data modelers, data quality analysts and data governance teams, and end users of the data 

Understanding of agile methodologies and practical experience of delivering products using agile approaches. Able to help team select appropriate practices. 

Understanding of the product lifecycle and capable of defining and adapting the team to deliver at each stage 

Good attention to detail and an ability to analyse and use data in decision making 

Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities 

Experience in identifying, diagnosing and resolving issues independently; will take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances 

Ability to convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling and succinct way in written and verbal communications 

Fluent written and spoken English 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or First degree in Sciences, Business, Computing or Humanities – with a strong preference for a Science based qualification
