This includes a numberof mid-senior level Data Engineers , who will help several keyteams deliver sophisticated data-driven products which will supportthe company and its customers on the Path to Net Zero. HOW YOULLFIT IN: As a Data Engineer at OVO, you could find yourself workingin one of the following teams: Next Best Action: You will be partof a multi-disciplinary Data squad focusing on Decisioning as aproduct. The team currently owns a decisioning platform and APIsupporting digital and contact centre customer interactions.Operations AI: You will be part of an AI squad focusing onintegrating predictive analytics and generative AI to enhancecustomer experience on the Path to Net Zero. As a Data Engineer,you will play a key role in developing and maintaining datapipelines, powering a platform and API that support both digitaland contact center customer interactions. Customer Lifetime Value:As a member of a multi-disciplinary Data Science team, you willhelp in the development and improvement of sophisticated data andmachine-learning products, all centred around maximising the OVOcustomer journey. In all of these teams, the Data Engineer willwork to advance OVOs AI-driven products, ensuring they arefuture-proof, scalable, and seamlessly integrated intodecision-making workflows across the business—from C-suite tooperational teams. Ultimately, your work will help drivesustainable solutions and empower customers in their journey towardZero Carbon. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Designing, building andmaintaining scalable data solutions, following good softwareengineering practices Establishing and advocating for goodengineering standard methodologies within the team, such as IaC,automated testing, adequate monitoring and alerting, CI/CD standardprocesses for production releases Raising the standards of existingcodebases following good software engineering principles andeducating non-engineers in such practices Perform both batch andreal-time data transformations, ensuring data is accurate,efficient, and readily available for analysis From time to time,help build end-to-end PoCs or prototypes, including basic web appsor basic frontend integrations ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCEPassion for crafting scalable, resilient solutions, and aneagerness to drive the team’s technology choices and architecturaldecisions A strong backend and data engineering background, withthe ability to occasionally carry out full stack development forPoC/prototypes Skilled in designing, building, monitoring, andmanaging large-scale data products, pipelines, tooling, andplatforms Deep understanding of the best engineering practices,including containerisation and CI/CD Experience with streaming andbatch ETL solutions using data processing tools like Kafka,Pub-Sub, VertexAI, BigQuery, Dataform, Postgres, or comparabletechnologies Hands-on experience developing cloud-based solutionsacross GCP, AWS, or Azure, with a command of Infrastructure as Codetools such as Terraform and cloud compute platforms like GCP CloudRun Excellent command of at least one programming languagerecognised in the Data Engineering community; primarily Python andSQL Experience or desire to work on MLOps, Model Training,Evaluation and Deployment You’re accustomed to working in amulti-disciplinary agile delivery setting with frequent releasecycles, with experience in pair programming, TDD, CI/CD, andstrategic deployment approaches – where technology decisions arenot rare If you tick most but not all of the requirements, OVOwould still love to hear from you COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:Competitive salary range of £55-85K (dependent on experience andseniority) On-target bonus of 15% 34 days holiday including bankholidays Pension matching up to 5% Flexible working as standardEnhanced parental leave policies 9% cash flex fund which can beused towards a variety of benefits (pension top-up, annual leavetop-up, gym memberships, healthcare cash plan, workplace ISA, etc.)OVO community – opportunities for L&D and community involvementPlease note that OVO are unable to offer visa sponsorship at thistime.
