Position: Naval Architect / Offshore Design EngineerDepartment: Engineering Reporting to: Director Qualification:Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Naval Architecture orEngineering Location: UK – Remote (office working as required)Salary: Competitive Scope of position: • Engineer Level member ofthe engineering team, involving close working with all functions ofthe company. • Provide support to the company’s technologydevelopment roadmap. • It is critical that the individual assumingthe role is both versatile and a true team-player, with an abilityto pre-empt and support a broad range of tasks. • Flexibility inthe role is a key requirement, particularly when working to tightdeadlines. Main Duties & Responsibilities • Proactively workwith and support the engineering leadership. • Ensure rigour in thedesign approach, on the integrity and quality of the designconcepts and the delivery of detailed designs of the selectedconcepts. • Principally responsible for supporting delivery of: oNumerical Analysis of offshore floating systems, o Validation ofnumerical modelling through prototype testing, o Mooring designincluding novel component specification to DNV standards, oAnalysis of data obtained during R&D Test Campaigns, and oEngineering consultancy activities. • All analysis to be undertakenusing combination of industry dynamic multi-physics standardsoftware, internal post-processing tools, and manual calculations.• Creating clear and concise technical reports for verification anddissemination. • Technical and project management support oncompany projects. • Ensure that delivery of design output meets orexceeds quality, cost and time drivers. • Proactively work with andsupport procurement and the manufacturing activities as end usersof the designs: o Prepare component specifications and liaise withsuppliers on procurement. o Develop method statements with themanufacturing and operations partners. • All component design to beperformed using 3D CAD with the design output as 2D drawings. •Ensure that all design work is performed as defined within QualityManagement System including review, approval, revision control andfiling of design output and reporting. • Support to Operations asrequired. Requirements- Essential Skills / Attributes • Excellenthydrodynamic and numerical analysis skills. • Experience inOrcaflex preferred. Experience in other hydrodynamic packageswelcome. Experience in running aerodynamically coupled models (e.g.FAST) welcome. • Excellent presentation and report writing skills.• Strong analytical skills with excellence in Microsoft Excel,Matlab, and other computing / programming languages. •Enthusiastic, positive and proactive nature. • Excellentinterpersonal, communication, and team working skills. • Practical,creative approach to design with an emphasis on simplicity ofdesign, manufacture and operation. • Ability to interpret test dataand seek innovative solutions for design enhancement. • Commercialawareness and experience of managing/working within budgets. •Excellent work ethic & flexibility. • Fluent / Native Englishspeaker. • Valid work permit / visa to work in UK. DesirableExperience • 0 - 5 years industry experience. • Product Research,Design & Development experience. • Floating Offshore Wind:platform and mooring systems – analysis and design. • Knowledge /experience of python programming language. • Knowledge of the DNVcertification process. • Experience of designing industrialcomponents. • Knowledge of renewable energy systems and the marineenvironment. • Client facing experience.
