Systems Specialist - Modelling and Simulation
An opportunity has arisen to join our Guidance, Control and Simulation team within the Systems Engineering group, working on the design and development of innovative technical solutions that meet customer requirements and business needs.
The role will involve the development of models of key (sub)systems throughout the product lifecycle for:
- Solution concepting
- Subsystem trade studies
- Guidance algorithm development and implementation
- Control actuation systems
- Launch platforms and fire control systems
- Hardware In The Loop testing
- Performance prediction and trials analysis
The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge in at least one of the key areas listed below and will be expected to lead the modelling and simulation activities for a given product or solution:
- Matlab / Mathworks toolset
- Flight dynamics
- Missile guidance
- Autopilot design
- Motor control
- Dynamic mechanical modelling
- Data fusion techniques
- Algorithm implementation
- Real time simulation
Skills, qualifications or experience
- A relevant degree in a numerate or engineering discipline, or significant commensurate experience
- Experience of development and validation of (sub)system models, preferably in an industrial environment
- Robust analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to analyse complex information and develop solutions on time and on budget
- Self-motivated, and capable of working on your own initiative
- Experience of mentoring/skills development
- Good verbal, written and technical presentation skills
- Membership of relevant professional body
