Main duties of the job

NHS England London’s Violence Reduction programme has a clear remit of ensuring there is appropriate psychological support across London for those that are impacted by violence.

In 2019 the programme explored the pathways that look at the psychological support available from our mental health services and Major Trauma Centres (MTCs) for victims of violence as part of an ongoing function and during major incidence to improve quality of integrated care, equity of access, and equity of care.

The new model of care uses the learning developed in response to the need to support those affected by the 2017 and 2019 terror attacks in London.

As part of the NHS London’s Violence Reduction Programme, this next phase of the programme is being rolled-out in 2023 to ensure that people receive the necessary support: a coordinated mental health response that encompasses the identification and treatment of those suffering through a proactive support offer, with a focus on minimising the long-term effects.

The post holder will have an important role in supporting this transformation agenda in the delivery of a comprehensive integrated model of care for major trauma patients that ensures equity of integrated high quality physical and psychological trauma care in London’s MTCs which can be stepped up when a major incident occurs.
