About Unitary

Unitary builds AI systems that combine human expertise and intelligent automation to handle complex real-world tasks — from trust & safety to marketplace operations.

We already analyse millions of images and videos daily, helping businesses scale safely and efficiently. Our mission: create an internet free from harm, where AI makes safe, fair, and transparent decisions.

The Role

We’re hiring a Machine Learning Solutions Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI systems that automate customer workflows.

You’ll work end-to-end — understanding client challenges, creating “Virtual Agents” that combine ML and software, and scaling these capabilities across our platform. It’s a hands-on, product-facing role with real ownership and impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and deliver Virtual Agents that automate customer processes
  • Build scalable, production-ready AI solutions across the stack (ML, MLOps, DevOps)
  • Collaborate directly with customers and internal teams to drive adoption
  • Contribute to Unitary’s ML platform and community, shaping our future technology

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong Python and Machine Learning Engineering experience
  • Curiosity for agentic AI and automation systems
  • Understanding of deployment (e.g. Kubernetes, CI/CD, MLOps)
  • Problem-solver who enjoys working directly with customers
  • Collaborative, proactive, and excited by startup pace

(Bonus: prior startup or remote-team experience, LLM familiarity, or infrastructure knowledge such as Terraform or Argo CD.)

Why Unitary

  • Remote-first team (~20 people across Europe & North America)
  • Flexible hours, competitive pay, equity, and generous leave
  • Annual budgets for professional growth and well-being
  • 3 off-sites per year in London or European destinations

Machine Learning Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

As we move into 2026, the machine learning jobs market in the UK is going through another big shift. Foundation models and generative AI are everywhere, companies are under pressure to show real ROI from AI, and cloud costs are being scrutinised like never before. Some organisations are slowing hiring or merging teams. Others are doubling down on machine learning, MLOps and AI platform engineering to stay competitive. The end result? Fewer fluffy “AI” roles, more focused machine learning roles with clear ownership and expectations. Whether you are a machine learning job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter trying to build ML teams, understanding the key machine learning hiring trends for 2026 will help you stay ahead.

Why Machine Learning Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Machine learning (ML) has moved from research labs into mainstream UK businesses. From healthcare diagnostics to fraud detection, autonomous vehicles to recommendation engines, ML underpins critical services and consumer experiences. But the skillset required of today’s machine learning professionals is no longer purely technical. Employers increasingly seek multidisciplinary expertise: not only coding, algorithms & statistics, but also knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This article explores why UK machine learning careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these fields intersect with ML roles, and what both job-seekers & employers need to understand to succeed in a rapidly changing landscape.
