Job Description Summary

Leads the designing of patterns, tooling, and templates to rapidly and efficiently deploy models into production. Scales AI/ML solutions on strategic infrastructure and integrating them into existing systems. Acts as a point of technical expertise and thought leadership, and provides line management and/or coaching to grow team capability.

Job Title: Machine Learning & AI Engineer

Location: Leeds

Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week

Working Pattern: Hybrid, with at least two days per week, or 40% of time, spent at one of our office sites.

About This Opportunity

We’re looking for a strategic and technically minded Machine Learning & AI Engineer to join our Homes Platform AI Team.

As a Lead Machine Learning & AI Engineer, you will use your knowledge of key software development best practices, Python testing frameworks, CI/CD, and source control to develop end-to-end machine learning systems in Python.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the team to help design and implement machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Develop and maintain scalable ML pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to understand model requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Optimize models for performance and accuracy.
  • Deploy and monitor ML models in production environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to ML systems.
Requirements
  • Passion for Machine Learning & AI, adopting the mindset of a curious engineer.
  • A senior technical lead, who takes ownership of deliveries within a Feature Team and is willing to help grow and guide engineers to form successful teams.
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and create business-ready solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills, particularly the ability to convey business information arising from technical subject matter to non-technical people.
  • A change mindset, helping to improve and support policies, processes, standards, and practices.
Nice to Have
  • Insights into industry solutions for data management, storage, and analytics.
  • Experience of working within regulatory change, including Credit Risk, capital, and impairment processes.
  • Experience of line management.
