Lecturer in Power Systems Engineering (KK12588) -Bath, BA2 7AYAbout the roleThe Department of Electronic andElectrical Engineering at the University of Bath is seeking toappoint a lecturer with a strong alignment to power systemsengineering and artificial intelligence to provide excellentpostgraduate research supervision and deliver high-qualityteaching. We are looking for outstanding researchers toenhance our research, join an expanding and ambitious department,and to shape the technology of the future in a vibrant andinclusive environment and to engage with plans to grow teaching inthese areas with strategic partnerships. Our electrical powersystems research area is a key part of the Centre for SustainableEnergy Systems and has a reputation for strong scientificcontributions to scalable and resilient energy network and marketmodelling and analyses. We have delivered tools and evidence forthe UK Government, the energy regulator and wider industry forintroducing new industrial standards, practices, and policies toaccelerate the net zero transition. We are at the forefront ofenergy system data and digitalisation through our engagement withthe government’s Energy System Digital Spine project. We deliver anannual Power Markets Training Course to national policy makersoutside the UK, in conjunction with the Foreign and CommonwealthDevelopment Office, the World Bank, and the University ofCambridge.The successful applicant will build a research portfoliowith potential for national and international impact. They willhelp the department equip our students with the ability to makeoutstanding contributions in the world around them, by fosteringadvanced knowledge and practical skills, and they will support anddevelop courses that are intellectually bold and academicallystimulating.We are interested in applicants with core expertise inpower engineering, and an interest in energy networks in generaland the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in energysystems. About youYou will be expected to contribute to ourundergraduate programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineeringand postgraduate programmes, such as our MSc in ArtificialIntelligence for Engineering and Design, with teaching in areassuch as: Power system fundamentalsPower system modelling andanalyses Power system operation, security and resilienceEnergymarkets and regulationApplications of AI and data science in energysystem operation and developmentRenewable energy production andutilisation and AIThe successful applicant will have a track recordin fundamental and applied power systems research and artificialintelligence, with the potential to develop a research portfolio,and a key interest in educating the next generation of powerengineers that are fit for the low carbon future.You will hold aPhD and an undergraduate degree in Electronic and ElectricalEngineering or a very closely related subject. Through yourresearch and teaching, you will be passionate about addressing theglobal challenges and educating the next generation of electronicand electrical engineers.
