About:
One of the fastest growing transportation consultancies, providing specialist transport planning, traffic engineering and surveying services to public and private sector clients, has rapidly expanded over the past few years to become a leader in the sector. They are a forward-thinking company that embraces innovation and change.

Adapting to demand, they have recently established a Technical Innovation team, which undertakes the development of technology based Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) products in the transport data and consulting industry, as well as in-house projects.

Based in Old Street, in a modern office, they are a circa 50 strong, dynamic team of experts, that want to welcome you, a Lead Transport Software Developer to the team!

Responsibilities:

Provide expert guidance and oversight to your teams to enable them to make sound technical decisions while making sure that the technology you support is making a difference to the future growth of the company.
Lead the development of new technology products in the transportation sector, focusing on sustainability and efficiency.
Oversee the improvement and maintenance of existing technology solutions, ensuring they meet client needs and industry standards.
Work closely with clients to facilitate the onboarding process for existing technology products, ensuring seamless integration.
Collaborate with external partners and internal teams to ensure research and product development aligns with client requirements and industry innovations.
Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new ideas that improve product offerings and internal processes.
Manage and grow a talented team of developers and engineers, providing technical direction, training and leadership.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve technical solutions, bringing creative solutions to complex problems.
Ensure all technology projects are delivered on time and meet high standards of technical excellence.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Experience in software development, with time spent in a leading role.
Strong programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript)
Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Strong technical expertise in technology development-preferably in transport technology or a related field as well as up to date knowledge about latest academic research on these topics
Self-motivated and hardworking, with a passion for driving innovative solutions.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Experience and Skills:

Experience in the transport industry or public sector
Knowledge of GIS and mapping technologies
Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning
Familiarity with big data analysis
Experience with mobile app development
Experience working in or with local government transport teams or projects.
Understanding of transport technology solutions or traffic data collection.
Background in managing the full technology project lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and maintenance.
