We are currently recruiting for a Lead Software Engineer with a strong programming or data science background.

A bit about the job:

The insurance industry is evolving in an age of rapid technological development, and as an organisation Aviva are investing in strengthening AI and Machine learning as distinctive capabilities.

The team is recognised as a centre of excellence in our Global Data Science Department - providing new data-driven insights that improve decision making across the Aviva Group.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work with Product Owners, SME's, and the rest of the team to shape, build and deliver excellent and timely customer outcomes through continuous deployment and delivery.

You'll have license to be creative and lead others in project teams - working collaboratively using the latest technologies in GenAI.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Well-versed in modern development practices such as Agile and API Development and AWS Architecture.
  • Strength in at least one programming language such as Python, SQL, C++ or similar, with experience in JavaScript, HTML or Django an advantage.
  • Creative thinker/problem solver with an understanding of data science fundamentals.
  • You appreciate the bigger picture, you are confident to contribute your ideas to the team on new technologies, solutions, and delivery approaches.
  • You take pride in your work and delivery quality outputs at every step of a project, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment, working through challenges with colleagues whilst having fun along the way.
