The team

As a member of the Central Insights Team, you will be part of shaping our understanding of key market trends and the competitor landscape, as well as developing a deep understanding of our own viewers and their behaviours. This role will work closely with cross functional teams to identify and address key strategic decisions and work together to design multi methodology techniques - using research, analytics and data science. As the Lead Insight Analyst, you will be exposed to the full spectrum of ITV’s data capabilities, leveraging 1st and 3rd party data assets, along with business understanding, to generate the insights that the leadership team needs to make decisions that drive the desired outcomes for the ITV Media & Entertainment business.

The role

As the Lead Insight Analyst for Central Insights, you will be working closely with the Head of Central Insights and Senior Insights Managers to curate data insight and innovation for the Central Insights team. Central Insights’ remit is to provide the M&E board with a holistic view of KPI performance in relation to the objectives and key results framework and measures of success within the business domains. Central Insights also plays a key part in the development of self-serve tooling, providing structured and reliable access to data across the organisation.

You will work cross-functionally with Lead Analysts in the other insight teams to understand key metric drivers across the business pillars of content, marketing, product and distribution.

The Central Insights team is also responsible for the Forecasting of all M&E KPIs, including streaming and broadcast performance, which leverages capabilities across insight, analytics and data science.

Key deliverables in the year will include: defining an analytics roadmap for Central Insights; continuing to improve existing insights; taking advantage of new tools and data sets coming online this year; delivering initial proof of concepts for new initiatives.

Example initiatives could include (and not limited to):

  • Providing enhanced insights into viewer behaviours and preferences over time, across ITV and broadcast and streaming competitors
  • Using analytics and data science to enhance our forecasting capabilities to deliver accurate and granular performance metrics that business partners can use to plan their strategies
  • Designing data solutions and self-serve tools that surface key insights to enable Insights colleagues and business partners to understand and access key metric performance drivers

Skills you’ll need(minimum criteria)

  • Vast experience of working in the data industry, preferably with extensive media and digital exposure
  • Interest in and knowledge of the UK television industry, including the distribution channels and platforms of broadcast and streaming services and the different commercial models
  • Proven track record of using data to drive direct to consumer relationships and business value
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tell commercially relevant stories with data
  • Keen problem solver who is able to demonstrate critical thinking
  • Able to understand and challenge assumptions and biases in analytical output, methodologies, models, data sets and recommendations
  • Experience working with Google Analytics, GCP and BigQuery, Tableau, Databricks and AWS
  • Able to write production grade code in SQL or Python
  • Extensive experience analysing large datasets on Data Mesh, Datalakes or EDW’s
  • Experience of establishing enterprise-scale self-serve tools
  • Experience of forecasting techniques for use in business analytics
  • Working knowledge of ML and its application to drive business value
  • Be a team player in our collaborative and cross-functional environment
  • Experience managing analyst workloads, project delivery and training and development

  • As part of a cross functional team develop and embed self-serve analytics solutions for business domains
  • Experience of working within “matrix” organisational design
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including insight managers, data scientists, engineers and business stakeholders to drive projects forward
  • Communicate analytics and insight to business stakeholders in a non-technical, commercial and impactful manner
  • Line management responsibility for a Senior Data Analyst and a Data Analyst
  • Manage and coach a team, ensuring adherence to project timelines and agreed deliverables
  • Responsible for training and developing team members to ensure they are empowered in their roles
