Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are looking to add an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Data Scientist to our Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Data Science team. This Lead Data Scientist is a key appointment to the Data Science Team, with responsibility of leading a team of Data Scientists embedded in our business teams to generate rapid insights that impact key business decisions and prove value of Data Science solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

In this exciting role, you will be joining an established team of Data Science professionals based across our UK and India bases, who are using Data Science to understand, automate and optimise key business processes. Our team works right across the broad range of our customer journey: from informing our marketing strategy, pricing our products, understanding our customers and their needs before, during and post their experience, and improving our airline and holiday operations.

As our Lead Data Scientist , you’ll be expected to work with internal teams across the business, to identify, collaborate with, and enthuse stakeholders across the wider group. You’ll also:
Be able todemonstrate your experience in line managing and coaching data scientists, taking responsibility for and championing our ways of working, assisting the breakdown of initiatives into measurable tasks, monitoring progress in stand-ups, and reporting progress to the Data Science Management team.
With your pod of Data Scientists, you’ll execute the application of machine learning and statistical modelling tools suited to the identified initiative.
Be skilled at storytelling, being able to explain the generated solution to our stakeholders and produce recommendations on how the business can realise value from this work.
Throughout the projects you’ll ensure you understand and are adhering to the appropriate regulatory and internal policy requirements.

What you’ll have:
You’ll be highly numeratewith a statistical background, and strong expertise in Python being desirable.
You’ll have strong SQL skills, with exposure to Snowflake desirable, andthe ability to create clear data visualisations in tools such as Tableau, will be essential.
You’ll be able to demonstrate experience in leading data science initiatives from concept into production and quantifying realised value.
As we work towards realising the benefits of cloud technologies, some familiarity with cloud platforms available for data science and storage would be desirable.
You’ll be skilled in gathering data from multiple sources, in multiple formats, and cleansing and enriching that data.
You’ll have an appreciation of the importance of data governance, and of how to assess and enhance the quality of our data.
Given the pace of change in new technologies and techniques, you will show commitment to keeping your own knowledge up to date through self-learning, and be supported with opportunities to complete relevant courses, attend industry events, and obtain technical certifications.
You’ll also be able to assist your direct reports in their career and skill development.
