If yes, then you may be the perfect fit for this opportunity to make your mark as a Lead Data Scientist within Aviva’s new Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) Data and AI Team.

About the job

The GCS Data team will aim to transform our business by using a growing stack of data‑assets to achieve tangible outcomes. Through strong internal and external stakeholder partnerships, we will enable a market leading data‑driven organisation that empowers our expert colleagues.


As the ideal candidate you’ll have experience of working with stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to identify and seize opportunities to apply AI and solve real‑world problems. You’ll play a key part in shaping the future of GCS insurance through cutting‑edge analytics, providing new data‑driven insights and designing and delivering successful, productionised AI solutions that improve decision making for our stakeholders.


Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Creativity meets problem‑solver. An inquisitive mind who can lead and inspire others.
  • Experience in working both collaboratively and independently to solve complex business problems using data‑driven solutions, sharing your knowledge with others along the way.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to articulate the value of your work and present information effectively to non‑technical audiences.
  • A strong analytical/numerical background and relevant experience of the application of data science, either through statistical modelling or using a programming language such as Python, SQL, R, C++ or similar.
  • Experience in AI and ML, including best practice, would be favourable.

What you’ll get for this role

  • Starting salary between Norwich or Perth: £45,000 - £65,000 / London: £55,000 - £75,000 (depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
  • Generous pension scheme – Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
