About the role
Data is at the heart of our strategy to engage and delight our customers, and we are determined to harness its power to go as far as we can to deliver a euphoric, personalised experience that they’ll love.
We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineering Lead to join our Data function to guide a team of data engineers in the design, build & maintenance of the pipelines that support this ambition. The ideal candidate will not only be able to see many different routes to engineering success, but to also be able to select & guide the team down the best path, working in concert with discipline Leads inside & outside the Data Team.
Our stack is primarily GCP, with Fivetran handling change detection capture, Google Cloud Functions for file ingestion, Dataform & Composer (Airflow) for orchestration, GA & Snowplow for event tracking and Looker as our BI Platform. We also use Terraform Cloud to manage our infrastructure as code.
As our Data Engineering Lead for Digital Analytics you will
Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, systems, and architectures Lead architectural decisions related to the Snowplow platform (core platform for data collection and processing), GTM, GA4 and Appsflyer Provide technical leadership, guidance & training to team members on best practices for data engineering. Mentor colleagues at all levels on new ways of working and improved development practices. Look for and act on opportunities for growing both the skills and capacity of the data team. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and create data models accordingly Develop and maintain ETL processes and ensure data quality and integrity Develop and maintain cloud-based data infrastructure and ensure its security and scalability Consider data privacy and safeguarding PII in all aspects of the data development lifecycle Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in Digital Analytics including Performance Marketing, CRM, Attribution. Join our Google Cloud platform management team and take ownership in the security, consistency, efficiency & general operation of the platform.
Experience
Experience with Digital Analytics software and platforms (, Google Analytics, Snowplow, Looker). Technical ability to understand what’s going on under the hood of these tools. Demonstrable experience with web analytics in the E-commerce space. Extensive experience with cloud data warehouse & analytics query engines such as BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake and a good understanding of cloud technologies generally Proficient in SQL, Python and Git Prior experience with HL (Terraform configuration language) YAML, Javascript, CLIs & Bash Prior experience with serverless tooling Google Cloud Functions, AWS Lambdas, etc. Familiarity with tools such as Fivetran, Dataform/DBT and Snowplow a bonus
Leadership and Collaboration
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams. Strong verbal & written communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across different departments. Strategic thinking to align analytics initiatives with business goals. Experience with incident management & resolution
