  • We're leveraging advanced analytics and automation to unlock insights to understand OVO’s customers better, personalise experiences, and make smarter and faster product decisions that enable our customers on their Path to Zero.
This role in a nutshell:

You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary data/AI pod, sitting within one of our Data Platform teams. As a Staff Analyst on the team, you will use advanced analytical techniques in order to measure product performance, identify and quantify product opportunities and support strategy. You will be working in a cross functional team including analysts, data scientists and software engineers. Your expertise will help us drive the delivery of our product, ensuring OVO Energy remains a leader in providing seamless and tailored experiences for our customers.

Your key outcomes will be:
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer behaviour, journeys, and lifecycle touchpoints, leveraging internal and third-party data to generate actionable insights that inform our customer intelligence models.
  • Define and implement measurement strategies for new product features and AI capabilities, including setting success metrics, designing experiments (e.g., A/B tests), and analysing outcomes.
  • Support the design, development, and evaluation of Data and AI products
  • Contribute product and analytical expertise to the evolution of the analytics warehouse by helping define key metrics, influence schema design, and ensure that data structures support effective analysis and decision-making.
  • Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical resources that empower stakeholders to self-serve and make data-informed decisions.
  • Bring a customer-first perspective to all analytical work, ensuring insights and recommendations consider the broader business and user context, with a focus on real-world impact.
  • Promote best practice, guide stakeholders and other analysts of various levels in the use of data and analysis techniques.
  • Promote ethical best practice in the way all data is used and processed, always ensuring compliance, security and our customers are placed first.
Systems

Proficiency of SQL is required, Python beneficial. We use Google Cloud, BigQuery, Dataform, Github, Looker –any familiarity with these or equivalent technologies is preferred.

You’ll be successful in this role at OVO if you…
  • Have a quantitative background (degree or equivalent) and proven experience solving real-world problems in customer-centric businesses.
  • Are highly numerate & analytic, able to delve into the details but able to zoom out to understand the strategic view.
  • Are excited by the opportunity to apply Generative AI within analytical workflows to drive efficiency and unlock new insights.
  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills - able to articulate results clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders, often using visualisation tools (Looker, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, etc).
  • Have experience working with a range of datasets, including digital journeys data, customer data, demographics and other common sources used in customer analytics - ideally in the utilities or energy sector – and you enjoy joining the dots between business processes, customers journeys, datasets and products.
  • Can create and interpret graphical representations of data and make recommendations.
  • Statistical knowledge including basic experimental statistics, sampling principles, the meaning of significance, hypothesis testing and basic probability theory.
  • You think about the customer first, so all your analysis and contributions to the product have a direct line with the customer experience.
  • Have a proven track record of engagement with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced and data-driven environment; where prioritisation is essential.
  • Have a demonstrated path toward more ownership, influence and leadership in data-driven projects.
  • Think beyond the one-off report and enjoy building insights that last, and to make this happen you collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers using common languages (SQL, Python) and version control tools, applying general software development principles.

We’ll pay you between £62,000 and £70,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
