Lead Data Analyst – Data & Analysis

Join us on our journey

At Nando’s, our purpose is simple: to Create Lasting Happiness – for our people, our customers, and the communities we’re part of. Born in Johannesburg and growing worldwide, we’ve always been about more than flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken. We’re about warmth, belonging, and creating experiences that matter – for our teams, for our guests, and for you.

Now, we’re building exciting new digital and data capabilities. Our tech team has expanded rapidly over the last five years, and we’re bringing fresh ideas and innovation to the restaurant industry. This is your chance to help shape that journey.

The role

We’re looking for a Lead Data Analyst to join our Data & Analysis team.

This role isn’t just about crunching numbers – it’s about using data to tell stories, spark ideas, and make real impact. You’ll guide how we use data to make decisions, help shape our data culture, and mentor others to grow in confidence and skill.

At Nando’s, our values guide everything we do:

  • Pride in the work we deliver and the people we work with.
  • Passion for making a difference and creating experiences that last.
  • Courage to try new ideas, experiment, and challenge the norm.
  • Integrity in how we use data responsibly and with respect.
  • Family in the way we collaborate, support, and celebrate each other.

You’ll live these values in your work every day, helping teams across the business use data with confidence and creativity.

What you’ll do

  • Translate complex data into clear, practical insights that support decisions across Nando’s.
  • Lead with empathy, empowering teams to own and understand their data.
  • Shape how we design our data models and reports, keeping them simple, accessible, and useful.
  • Explore new tools and techniques – including AI – to help us work smarter.
  • Share your knowledge through mentoring, demos, and storytelling, building confidence in data across the business.
  • Support and inspire other analysts, helping them develop their skills and careers.

About you

We’d love to meet you if you:

  • Enjoy collaborating with people and explaining data in ways that inspire action.
  • Have some experience leading or mentoring others (formally or informally).
  • Feel comfortable with tools like SQL, Python, or BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI) – but you don’t need to know them all.
  • Bring curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn as much as technical expertise.

Nice-to-haves (but not must-haves):

  • Experience with cloud databases (GCP, AWS, Snowflake).
  • Knowledge of data pipelines or testing tools.
  • Exposure to machine learning, forecasting, or statistical techniques.

(Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box – if you have the right mindset and passion for data, we’ll support you to grow.)

Why you’ll love it here

  • Progression & growth: Many of our team members have stepped into leadership, product, and strategy roles. We’ll help you carve out your own path.
  • Belonging & inclusion: Everyone is welcome at Nando’s. We celebrate diversity and create spaces where people feel safe, respected, and able to flourish.
  • Flexibility & balance: We support hybrid options – because life outside work matters too.
  • A values-led culture: Our values – Pride, Passion, Courage, Integrity, and Family – shape everything we do.
  • Purpose & impact: From reducing waste to improving sustainability and creating better guest experiences, your work will help make a difference beyond the data.

Everyone is welcome

At Nando’s, we know diverse teams are stronger teams. We’re committed to building an inclusive culture where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to flourish. Whether you’ve taken a career break, followed a non-traditional path, or are stepping up into leadership for the first time, we’d love to hear from you.

How Many Machine Learning Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Machine Learning Job?

Machine learning is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing areas of tech. But for job seekers it can also feel like a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms. One job advert wants TensorFlow and Keras. Another mentions PyTorch, scikit-learn and Spark. A third lists Mlflow, Docker, Kubernetes and more. With so many names out there, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you must learn everything just to be competitive. Here’s the honest truth most machine learning hiring managers won’t say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool. They hire you because you can solve real problems with the tools you know. Tools are important — no doubt — but context, judgement and outcomes matter far more. So how many machine learning tools do you actually need to know to get a job? For most job seekers, the real number is far smaller than you think — and more logically grouped. This guide breaks down exactly what employers expect, which tools are core, which are role-specific, and how to structure your learning for real career results.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Machine Learning Job Applications (UK Guide)

Whether you’re applying for machine learning engineer, applied scientist, research scientist, ML Ops or data scientist roles, hiring managers scan applications quickly — often making decisions before they’ve read beyond the top third of your CV. In the competitive UK market, it’s not enough to list skills. You must send clear signals of relevance, delivery, impact, reasoning and readiness for production — and do it within the first few lines of your CV or portfolio. This guide walks you through exactly what hiring managers look for first in machine learning applications, how they evaluate CVs and portfolios, and what you can do to improve your chances of getting shortlisted at every stage — from your CV and LinkedIn profile to your cover letter and project portfolio.
