Overview

We're seeking a Power BI/Business Intelligence Developer to join our team. As a leader in providing Sage ERP solutions we're committed to providing data-driven insights to meet our clients requirements. Our ideal candidate will have experience in Power BI, SQL Server, and Sage 200 (or Similar ERP Solutions).

Job Summary

As a Junior Reporting Analyst, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing data visualization solutions using Microsoft Power BI, leveraging SQL Server as the primary data source and reporting from Sage 200. You'll work closely with the existing team to identify business needs, develop data models, and create interactive dashboards that provide clients with the insights they need. The existing team will also provide the support and guidance that you need in your development.

As Sage 200 is primarily a SQL based platform, our main focus Is on SQL side development rather than data transformation within PowerBI. Therefore SQL server skills would be an advantage.

The role will suit someone from a Sage background who wants to focus on reporting and analytics or someone with a reporting background who wants to apply their skills to a new ERP suite.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business requirements

- Write efficient SQL queries to extract and transform data from SQL Server

- Integrate Power BI with Sage 200 to provide real-time insights and reporting

- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Power BI development and deployment

- Create reports using the tools provided by Sage (Report designer, API, etc)

- Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features, best practices, and industry trends

Ideal Candidate:

- Experience or Knowledge in Power BI development, data analysis, or a related field

- Experience or Knowledge of SQL Server, query writing would be desirable

- Experience with Sage 200, including data interrogation and reporting

- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues

- Excellent communicator with a strong work ethic

Whether you’re applying for machine learning engineer, applied scientist, research scientist, ML Ops or data scientist roles, hiring managers scan applications quickly — often making decisions before they’ve read beyond the top third of your CV. You must send clear signals of relevance, delivery, impact, reasoning and readiness for production — and do it within the first few lines of your CV or portfolio. The Skills Gap in Machine Learning Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Machine learning has moved from academic research into the core of modern business. From recommendation engines and fraud detection to medical imaging, autonomous systems and language models, machine learning now underpins many of the UK’s most critical technologies. Universities have responded quickly. Machine learning modules are now standard in computer science degrees, specialist MSc programmes have proliferated, and online courses promise to fast-track careers in the field. And yet, despite this growth in education, UK employers consistently report the same problem: Many candidates with machine learning qualifications are not job-ready. Roles remain open for months. Interview processes filter out large numbers of applicants. Graduates with strong theoretical knowledge struggle when faced with practical tasks. The issue is not intelligence or effort. It is a persistent skills gap between university-level machine learning education and real-world machine learning jobs. This article explores that gap in depth: what universities teach well, what they routinely miss, why the gap exists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build successful careers in machine learning.
