The Role:

As a Junior Data Analyst, you’ll play a key role within the club’s Data Function, delivering accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to support football operations and wider organisational activities. You’ll help ensure data‑driven decision‑making at all levels of the club, from preparing executive reports to supporting analytical projects across departments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce board packs, executive decks, and regular reporting with exceptional attention to detail
  • Conduct analytical assignments across diverse datasets (football performance, commercial, operations)
  • Support workload coordination and manage priorities and timelines for deliverables
  • Prepare and quality‑assure reports for leadership and key stakeholders
  • Apply structured approaches to data validation, reconciliation, and accuracy assurance
  • Identify opportunities to enhance internal reporting processes and data workflows
  • Support cross‑functional projects requiring analytical input and data coordination
  • Prepare clear, well‑structured outputs using Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualisation tools
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the club to gather requirements and deliver high‑quality insights on time

The Person:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capability, professional discipline, and a collaborative mindset. They will bring intellectual curiosity, precision, and the ability to deliver high‑quality analytical outputs within a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.


Essential

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, or another analytical discipline
  • Proven experience or demonstrable interest in audit, financial analysis, or data analytics
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all deliverables
  • Methodical, organised, and diligent approach to managing workload and priorities
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to distil complex data into clear, concise insights for a range of audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a strong desire for continuous learning and professional development
  • Demonstrates resilience and composure when working to tight deadlines
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting Manchester United’s data‑driven objectives and wider strategic goals

Desirable

  • Experience with programming or analytical tools such as Python, R, and/or SQL
  • Exposure to data visualisation platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Awareness or interest in football operations and sports performance analytics
