Your Role:

Global Relay delivers enterprise services to 23,000 customers in 90 countries, including 22 of the top 25 global banks. As a DevOps platform engineer you will be responsible for the smooth operation of on-premise production and lower environment platforms depended on by engineering teams throughout the organisation.

Your Job:

Given the varied nature of the role, your time will be split working across the following areas:

Automation: Designing and implementing platform solutions that scale with minimal downtime while maintaining highest security standards Operations: Monitor and ensure smooth operation of production and test environments by executing common sysadmin (system administration) tasks and automating repetitive tasks Collaboration:Collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure requirements are met in line with expectations through planned and business as usual (BAU) activities Service Reliability: Occasionally provide support and initial troubleshooting when required by reviewing dashboards and logs to ensure system issues are timely addressed

Some of the technologies that you will interact with include:

Big Data Technology such as Cassandra, Ceph, Kafka, Pulsar, OpenSearch Build & Deployment Automation such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, Ansible Containerization/Virtualization (Docker/Podman, VMware) Instrumentation & Monitoring (Loki, Grafana, Mimir, Zabbix, Prometheus) Languages/Scripts: Python, Bash, Java

Where you have knowledge gaps, training and shadowing opportunities will be provided.

About You:

You have an automation-first mindset. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and have a thirst for expanding your own technical horizons. You are able to work under pressure and you are a keen problem solver with a drive for finding efficient solutions to challenging problems. 

3+ years experience as a Linux /Platform Engineer engineer or similar role Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field Experienced in using Python You are comfortable working in a cross geographic team. Understanding of computer science fundamentals like threading, OOP and more Understanding of software systems concepts such as networking, firewalls, protocols, databases and more Some understanding of software delivery practices such as Git branching models and configuration management Experience with: Linux, Bash RDBS and NoSQL DBs such as Ms SQL, Cassandra CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or similar Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or Puppet Containerisation/Virtualization technology such as Docker, Podman, VMware Load balancing tools such as HA-Proxy, Nginx or F5

Nice to haves

Experience with any of these: Cassandra, Ceph, Zookeeper, Kafka, CockroachDB, or OpenSearch Understanding of software delivery practices such as feature toggling, no-downtime deployment Experience with Java or GoLang
