Job Description / Key Purpose of the Job:

The Head of Machine Learning at DNEG leads the strategic direction and development of advanced machine learning initiatives, driving innovation and ensuring that AI-powered solutions translate into real-world business impact. We are looking for a leader to help shape the future of ML/AI tooling in the VFX industry. The candidate will need to collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust AI solutions that align with the company’s objectives. The role involves managing the research and development roadmap, mentoring teams, and fostering a culture of excellence, all while balancing innovation with the operational realities of a high-security production environment.

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties:

Execute the strategic roadmap for machine learning R&D aligned with company goals. Lead, mentor, and grow a world-class machine learning team. Drive innovation in areas such as deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate research breakthroughs into scalable, production-ready solutions. Monitor and evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption strategies where applicable. Oversee the development and maintenance of machine learning infrastructure and tools to support research and deployment. Establish partnerships with academic institutions and industry organizations.

Job Requirements / Must Haves:

Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and communication skills. Proven track record in leading machine learning R&D teams or projects. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related field. Extensive experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages (e.g., Python). Deep understanding of AI ethics, fairness, and interpretability. Strategic thinking with the ability to define and communicate a compelling vision.

Additional Skills / Nice to Have:

PhD and/or strong portfolio of published research and patents in top AI conferences and journals. Experience deploying large-scale machine learning models in production. Familiarity with cloud platforms and MLOps best practices. Proficiency in languages beyond Python, such as C++. Able to knit together a high performing distributed team and communicate a consistent vision.

Ce rôle inclut la gestion de la feuille de route pour la recherche et le développement, le mentorat des équipes et la promotion d'une culture d'excellence, tout en équilibrant innovation et réalités opérationnelles d'un environnement de production hautement sécurisé.Responsabilités principales / Missions :Exécuter la feuille de route stratégique pour la recherche et le développement en apprentissage automatique, en alignement avec les objectifs de l'entreprise.Diriger, encadrer et développer une équipe de machine learning de classe mondiale.Stimuler l'innovation dans des domaines tels que l'apprentissage profond, le traitement du langage naturel, la vision par ordinateur et l'apprentissage par renforcement.Collaborer avec les équipes produits et ingénierie pour intégrer les percées de la recherche dans des solutions évolutives et prêtes pour la production.Suivre et évaluer les technologies émergentes en IA et recommander des stratégies d’adoption le cas échéant.Superviser le développement et la maintenance des infrastructures et des outils de machine learning pour soutenir la recherche et le déploiement.Établir des partenariats avec des institutions académiques et des organisations professionnelles.

Exigences du poste / Compétences indispensables :

Compétences exceptionnelles en leadership, mentorat et communication. Expérience avérée dans la direction d’équipes ou de projets de R&D en machine learning. Diplôme avancé en informatique, machine learning, IA ou domaine connexe. Expérience approfondie des frameworks de deep learning (par exemple, TensorFlow, PyTorch) et des langages de programmation (par exemple, Python). Compréhension approfondie de l’éthique de l’IA, de l’équité et de l’interprétabilité. Pensée stratégique avec la capacité de définir et de communiquer une vision convaincante.

Compétences supplémentaires / Atouts :

Doctorat et/ou un solide portefeuille de recherches publiées et de brevets dans des conférences et revues AI de premier plan. Expérience dans le déploiement de modèles de machine learning à grande échelle en production. Familiarité avec les plateformes cloud et les meilleures pratiques MLOps. Maîtrise de langages autres que Python, comme C++. Capacité à réunir une équipe distribuée hautement performante et à communiquer une vision cohérente.
