Job Description

Head of Data Science - Credit Risk/Lending

Up to £130,000 + Bonus

London (2/3 days onsite)

Company:

A long term client of ours, operating within the Credit/Lending space is looking to bring in a new Head of Data Science. Focused on Credit Cards and Loans, the company uses a digital-first platform and smart analytics to assess affordability fairly and lend responsibly. Backed by a trusted brand, it’s making credit clear, accessible, and ethical.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a Data Science team to build and embed top credit models supporting growth and customer outcomes.
  • Develop and deploy segmented credit models for unsecured consumer lending.
  • Improve data and analytics by identifying opportunities and encouraging rapid testing.
  • Work with Analytics to optimise portfolio value through data and modelling adjustments.
  • Communicate insights to stakeholders, monitor model performance, and collaborate across teams and external partners.

    Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields.
  • Experience working with models in the Credit Risk/Lending space (Probability of Default, scorecard etc).
  • Strong coding skills in Python and SQL
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • 2+ years of data science leadership experience
  • Aptitude to embrace AI and its potential for the business, helping to identify and deliver AI projects across the business
