The Opportunity

Ready to take your first professional step after university? This three‑year Graduate Data Scientist opportunity gives you the chance to put your degree into action and start building a meaningful career with Angus Council.


You’ll join us at a pivotal time as we use data to shape smarter decisions, improve services and create better outcomes for the people of Angus. As part of our corporate data team and Roads & Transportation service, you’ll contribute to real projects from day one — whether that’s analysing road safety data, developing dashboards for senior leaders, improving transport planning or helping us get more value from the data we use every day.


This role is designed for graduates who are eager to apply their knowledge, deepen their technical skills and grow into a confident, capable data professional. Through a structured three‑year development programme aligned to the Royal Statistical Society’s Chartered Data Scientist pathway, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in analytics, modelling, coding, visualisation, geospatial analysis and more — all while being supported by experienced managers and mentors.


You’ll work flexibly across Angus House, other council locations and from home, collaborating with colleagues across a wide range of teams. Most importantly, you’ll be able to see the direct impact of your work as your insights help improve services, strengthen decision‑making and contribute to a better Angus.

This job is temporary for up to 3 years from date of appointment.

  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another related field
