LOCATION: Newcastle WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid (2 days per week in office) The Frontend Software Engineer is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining products and/or systems to enable Sage's business plans and long-term objectives using the identified architecture. They will play a key role in building out features of Sage Copilot, our new generative AI-powered assistant that helps our customers get work done faster. They will possess experience of developing React micro-front ends in a commercial environment. The Frontend Software Engineer will contribute to the design, development and delivery of high-quality products and/or systems and services that exceed customers' or business partners' expectations and will proactively share their own knowledge for specific technical solutions and business processes in their area of responsibility. Why you would love to join us: Do you like the challenge of solving complex engineering problems with cutting edge technologies: Key Skills and Experience: A good understanding: - React - Typescript - React Query e.g Tanstack - Unit testing web applications e.g, Jest or React Testing Library - Storybook and Playwright - Object-oriented programming, enough to write and review code documentation. Desirable: - Bedrock - LLM models - Machine Learning - .NET C# framework - Knowledge and experience of working with a cloud vendor (AWS preferred). - Knowledge of Agile (SCRUM). - A product-based focus understanding how changes and updates affect our consumers - Experience gathering product requirements, assisting in defining scope, writing functional specifications, and estimating complexity. A great team player, communicator, and contributor. Key Responsibilities Experience building software that interfaces with AI (Artificial Intelligence) is desirable, but not essential, but you should have a strong interest in this area. Experienced in learning emerging technology areas such as AI and Copilots. Successfully develop, delivery maintain high quality software (requirements, design, code, documentation, etc.) Work with product managers early on to shape product definition so that it can be built in flexible, extensible, and robust way Keep up to date with relevant technology areas. Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting Evaluates progress, results, and recommends major changes in procedures. Partner effectively with all team members to deliver against commitments Work cross-functionally with various Sage teams: product management, QA/XD, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results Commitment to team success and positive team dynamics Passion for growing and applying technical skills in service to customers Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, and/or Extreme Programming methodologies Maintain relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes where applicable. Ensure all tasks are completed to the required quality standards.
