They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what's right.THE GIGThe Fraud and Payments Analyst, protects Group revenue by minimising losses due to payment fraud while maintaining minimal friction at checkout for genuine customers. Working with external payment system providers and internal stakeholders, success in this role can have a real impact on our bottom line by reducing chargeback losses and helping support payment conversion. This person will get into the detail and be the ‘go to’ person in the business for payment and fraud related areas – from managing our fraud defences, suggesting new payment types, and recommending ways to improve our current payments set up. As our Fraud and Payments Analyst, you will be accountable for:

  • Acting as payment and fraud SME within the business working on a global level alongside one other analyst but specialised on the management of the EMEA region.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvements in our payment fraud processes and KPIs, ensuring we maximise customer acceptance whilst minimising fraud losses.
  • Managing relationship and performance of external fraud screening system suppliers.
  • Defending chargebacks and disputes to maximise recovery from payment providers such as Visa/Mastercard, Klarna and PayPal.
  • Developing an external intelligence network with other merchants, fraud mitigation providers and related payments parties to stay up to date on latest trends in payments and fraud.
  • Handling daily fraud and abuse related processes, escalations, and alerts.
  • Analysing of payments performance data, share of wallet and payment related costs to provide reporting of key KPIs for senior management, recommending cost and performance optimisations.
  • Developing monthly management information on payment related fraud, harnessing transaction data from internal and external systems to report on fraud rates, trends, and financial losses.
  • Supporting in the development and implementation of new payment options across global operations and all business channels.
  • Supporting on operational customer payment activities, projects, or issues on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Supporting the relationship management of key payment providers such as gateway, acquirers, and other related technology partners.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APARTPut simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Detailed knowledge of the global payments industry, CNP transactions and card scheme frameworks (e.g. chargebacks) would be highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a customer payments or fraud prevention role, preferably at a merchant.
  • Direct experience working with machine learning and rules-based fraud prevention tools (such as Ravelin, Forter, Sift, Signifyd, Accertify, etc).
  • A keen analytical data mindset, the ability to interrogate data for insights, summarising key findings internally (strong in excel at a minimum but experience with Power BI advantageous).
  • High degree of technical literacy with the ability to utilise several systems and understand how they fit together in the wider Dr Martens tech stack.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to explain highly technical issues to non-financial staff.
  • An ambitious and creative thinker who can work either independently or collaboratively to solve problems.
