ABOUT US

⌚🤚🤖⚡ Fether Labs is building wristbands that redefine human–computer interaction. With a flick, a pinch, or a squeeze, any gesture can be programmed into a seamless command. From the mouse to the touchscreen to what has always been most natural—our hands—we’re creating the next evolution of control.

At the heart of our product is a proprietary sensor technology invented at Imperial College London. Our sensors are fundamentally different – they’re not electrodes (sEMG) and IMUs – they will allow us to create a natural, precise, and expansive set of interactions.

We are Jacques, Michael, and James—technical co‑founders from Imperial College London. We are building a team to redefine how humans interact with technology. If you’re interested in joining us, please apply; and if you have any questions, contact James at .

THE ROLE

We’re looking for an ambitious 🚀 Founding Engineer who thrives in high‑intensity, high‑impact environments. You’ll be leading the development of 🧠⚡ algorithms.

This role will involve processing 🌊 the signals coming from our proprietary sensors and developing 🧠 algorithms to detect and classify gestures. In addition, you will be working closely with the hardware team to provide feedback on the signal quality and characteristics. As a startup, we anticipate that you will be involved with many other aspects of the company, such as user data collection, firmware and software development kit (SDK) development, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead algorithm development, inclusive of signal processing and machine learning approaches.
  • Collaborate with the Hardware Team to provide a seamless integration of hardware and software.
  • Engage in research and development activities to explore new products and product features.
  • Deploy the algorithm at a commercial grade level.

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge and skills with digital signal processing and machine learning.
  • Proven experience in deploying production‑ready algorithms.
  • Flexibility to take on many different roles, as needed in a fast‑growth startup company.

Desirable Skills

  • Have previously deployed machine learning models to the market with great success.
  • Expertise in firmware engineering.
  • Experience with Nordic Semiconductor chips.
  • Experience in SDK and API development.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to lead algorithmic development in a fast‑growing tech startup.
  • We have invented a proprietary sensor that you will have exclusive access to build products for.
  • Exposure to the full product lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.
  • Salary and equity package.

Machine Learning Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK machine learning hiring has shifted from title‑led CV screens to capability‑driven assessments that emphasise shipped ML/LLM features, robust evaluation, observability, safety/governance, cost control and measurable business impact. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for ML engineers, applied scientists, LLM application engineers, ML platform/MLOps engineers and AI product managers. Who this is for: ML engineers, applied ML/LLM engineers, LLM/retrieval engineers, ML platform/MLOps/SRE, data scientists transitioning to production ML, AI product managers & tech‑lead candidates targeting roles in the UK.

Why Machine Learning Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Machine learning (ML) has moved from research labs into mainstream UK businesses. From healthcare diagnostics to fraud detection, autonomous vehicles to recommendation engines, ML underpins critical services and consumer experiences. But the skillset required of today’s machine learning professionals is no longer purely technical. Employers increasingly seek multidisciplinary expertise: not only coding, algorithms & statistics, but also knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This article explores why UK machine learning careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these fields intersect with ML roles, and what both job-seekers & employers need to understand to succeed in a rapidly changing landscape.

Machine Learning Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Machine Learning Department

Machine learning is now central to many advanced data-driven products and services across the UK. Whether you work in finance, healthcare, retail, autonomous vehicles, recommendation systems, robotics, or consumer applications, there’s a need for dedicated machine learning teams that can deliver models into production, maintain them, keep them secure, efficient, fair, and aligned with business objectives. If you’re hiring for or applying to ML roles via MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, this article will help you understand what roles are typically present in a mature machine learning department, how they collaborate through project lifecycles, what skills and qualifications UK employers look for, what the career paths and salaries are, current trends and challenges, and how to build an effective ML team.
