A successful candidate will be self‑motivated, curious, able to build strong relationships and work effectively as part of a team.

They should feel comfortable using their initiative, working independently when needed, and be eager to learn and progress.

The Role

As a Finance Data Analyst, you will support the Global Finance Data team. This team is part of our Finance function reporting into the Data Director and Chief Financial Officer. The aim is to ensure data is managed and used appropriately in compliance with regulatory requirements to mitigate the risk of omissions or errors within our internal and external reporting. This prevents harm for customers, employees, and shareholders, as well as avoiding disruption, reputational damage, or regulatory intervention.

The team ensures the right processes and procedures are in place and supports the Finance teams to comply with the policies implemented by the Chief Data Officer and other related Risk functions. The team also supports the adoption of new technologies within Finance, including enhanced analysis and reporting tools as well as encouraging the safe and responsible use of AI.

What will you be doing?
  • Supporting the Data team and the other Finance operational teams in understanding the requirements for various aspects of data policy compliance and centralising key evidence items
  • Supporting the Data team in documenting and maintaining elements of architecture, process lineage, and ownership
  • Supporting the generation and sharing of dashboard, evidence, and reporting
  • Managing internal Finance queries on data governance.
  • Training and Awareness on the importance of governance and use of technology to colleagues in the Finance business
  • Attending planning, progress review, and oversight meetings
  • Engagement with data governance and architecture experts in other areas of M&G
  • Developing knowledge of the regulatory requirements on data governance
  • Learn how to have effective risk management in place and how data risks are identified, assessed, managed and reported
What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • Can effectively manage day‑to‑day work, alongside apprenticeship qualification
  • Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly elevate any issue and work remotely where required
  • Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion, and a drive to learn
Minimum Requirements
  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2026
  • You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Living in Scotland
  • Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Minimum of Grade C in Two Highers or equivalent
Training Provided

As a Finance Data Analyst Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Data Analyst SCQF Level 8 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre‑recorded lectures, and face‑to‑face inductions and masterclasses.

Future Prospects

This is a fixed‑term contract for 18–23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.

Salary

£24,400 per annum plus benefits.
