As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping the development of complex systems that ensure our ongoing success.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Systems Engineer at EXPLEO, you will take technical ownership of significant areas of complex projects, working across the full systems engineering lifecycle. This is a highly collaborative role that provides the opportunity to influence system architectures, guide design processes, and mentor junior engineers.

  • Lead and contribute to the systems design and architecture of advanced systems, ensuring customer requirements are met.
  • Deliver high-quality outputs across the full systems lifecycle, including requirements capture, system modelling, design, verification, and validation.
  • Support trade-off studies and develop solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Lead and coordinate system-level analysis, integration, and testing activities.
  • Interface with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to define system requirements and manage system-level decisions.
  • Produce technical documentation, including system design descriptions, interface control documents, and test specifications.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
  • Drive continuous improvement, ensuring systems engineering best practices and processes are followed.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline such as Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Physics.

Essential skills

  • Demonstrable experience in systems engineering within the defence, aerospace, or similar high-integrity industry.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools (e.g., MBSE, SysML, DOORS).
  • Experience across the full systems lifecycle, from concept development to validation and verification.
  • Ability to perform trade-off studies and analyse system performance to meet technical, cost, and schedule constraints.
  • Knowledge of complex system architectures, such as weapon systems, avionics, or missile systems.
  • Effective communicator, able to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines.
  • Experience with system modelling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Rhapsody) is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment with awareness of defence standards and safety-critical design.
