What does our National Technology Data Analytics team do?

National Technology is an internal service team whose purpose is to deliver and manage the IT, Data and Digital solutions to support RSM's ambitious growth plans as well as day-to-day operations. RSM recognises the strategic importance of IT and Digital to the future of the business and is investing in IT and digital skills to better serve the needs of our clients and people. The projects and initiatives under way in National Technology include:

Cloud migration
Modern workplace solutions
Enterprise data platform design & build
Advanced data analytics & data science
Bespoke .NET and Java software development to serve the digital needs of our clients
Automating our core business processes
Adoption of the latest cyber security technology

Within national technology, you'll be joining the data analytics team working on projects within our Enterprise Data Platform. You will learn how to effectively retrieve, present and work with business data to support deep analysis and deliver innovative data focused solutions using a variety of coding languages including SQL and Python. You will be guided by experienced data engineers in the development and testing of a variety of software and technology solutions. You will learn how to build data pipelines, cloud hosted solutions, and how to troubleshoot alerts and messages to ensure our Enterprise Data Platform is available and performant for business users.

What can you expect?

RSM's early digital careers programme offers a range of informal and formal development opportunities. From day one, you will join with trainees across the firm to receive core training in professional and soft skills. Alongside this you will benefit from specific technology skills training focussed on our digital and data services, for example Agile project delivery, as well as learning how to use our core tools, including Alteryx and Power BI. We will also support business related qualifications where this is relevant and beneficial to your role.

Following your basic enablement, you'll join colleagues in delivering live client engagements. No two journeys will be the same, as each client experience is different, but you'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced members of the team and understand how digital and data projects are delivered. This hands-on experience is invaluable as you take the next steps in your career.

What we look for

We're on the lookout for students with a passion for digital and a 'can-do' attitude who are prepared to work hard and take on high levels of responsibility. We also look for team players who enjoy interacting with others and are curious about how digital technology can generate real benefit for businesses. As a digital advocate, you will be expected to share your knowledge and insights with your colleagues and clients and help them embrace the opportunities and challenges of the digital era.

You may be working on multiple projects at the same time, so time management and organisational skills are key. Confidence with numbers and business awareness is a must, but you'll also need excellent communication skills and be able to forge strong working relationships with people from all backgrounds. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

Our Recruitment Process

Please note, for those who perform well throughout our assessment process, should your first preference be unavailable, you could potentially be offered a role in another location or department. This would always be discussed with you in this instance.

Entry requirements

At RSM, we don't just look for good exam results. We think passion, personality and originality are just as important.

You will need:

  • 112 UCAS (new tariff) across 3 A Levels or an equivalent level 3 qualification or 104 UCAS (new tariff) across 4 Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers.
  • A predicted or obtained honours degree.

Please note, RSM does not accept General Studies, AS levels or the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
