We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a Financial Crime expert at Director / Head Of / Partner level to lead a growing financial crime practice.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives
You will be responsible for overseeing and leading the financial crime consulting practice, managing a team of professionals who provide advisory services to clients in the banking and financial services sectors. You will also be responsible for defining and executing the firm's financial crime strategy, developing relationships with key clients, and delivering high-impact financial crime prevention solutions.

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Strategic Direction & Vision:
    o Define and execute the strategy for the financial crime practice, aligning with the broader business goals and market demands.
    o Lead the development of new service offerings and thought leadership in areas such as anti-money laundering (AML), fraud prevention, sanctions compliance, and financial crime risk management.
    o Ensure the practice remains at the forefront of regulatory developments, emerging threats, and market trends in financial crime.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    o Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of financial crime professionals.
    o Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
    o Ensure appropriate resourcing and skills development to deliver on client projects and drive innovation.

    Client Engagement & Delivery:
  • Client Relationship Management:
    o Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders at major banking and financial institutions.
    o Act as the lead advisor for key client engagements, providing expert guidance on financial crime risk management, regulatory compliance, and crisis management.
    o Drive business development and lead proposals for large financial crime-related projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and compliance audits.
  • Advisory & Consulting:
    o Oversee the design and delivery of strategic financial crime prevention programs, ensuring they are aligned with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
    o Provide expert advice on financial crime risks, including money laundering, fraud, bribery, sanctions violations, and other illicit activities.
    o Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters, helping them navigate complex legal environments, including GDPR, FATF guidelines, and local regulatory frameworks.

    Risk & Compliance Oversight:
  • Financial Crime Risk Management:
    o Lead assessments of clients' financial crime risk profiles, identifying areas of vulnerability and recommending solutions to mitigate risks.
    o Ensure that clients comply with relevant financial crime regulations and standards, conducting audits, risk assessments, and gap analyses.
    o Oversee the implementation of financial crime prevention systems, including transaction monitoring, KYC (Know Your Customer), AML compliance frameworks, and fraud detection.
  • Regulatory Knowledge & Compliance:
    o Stay abreast of regulatory changes in financial crime laws, including AML regulations, sanctions, and fraud detection requirements in Europe and globally.
    o Advise clients on regulatory changes and help them ensure compliance with evolving standards and best practices.

    Business Development & Growth:
  • Business Development & Sales:
    o Drive the growth of the financial crime consulting practice by identifying new business opportunities within the banking and financial services sectors.
    o Lead the development of client proposals, RFP responses, and sales presentations, demonstrating the firm's expertise and value proposition in financial crime risk management.
    o Collaborate with other practice areas to cross-sell services and develop holistic solutions for clients.
  • Market Positioning:
    o Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and thought leadership forums, positioning the company as an authority in financial crime prevention.
    o Contribute to the development of white papers, case studies, and research that enhance the firm's reputation in the market.

    Innovation & Thought Leadership:
  • Technological Innovation:
    o Stay ahead of technological developments in the financial crime prevention space, such as AI and machine learning applications in fraud detection and AML compliance.
    o Identify and drive the adoption of innovative technologies to enhance client outcomes in financial crime risk management.
  • Industry Thought Leadership:
    o Write and contribute to thought leadership content on financial crime, including white papers, research reports, and blogs.
    o Share insights and strategies through public speaking at industry events and webinars.

    Required Skills/Experience
    The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Extensive Experience in Financial Crime Risk Management:
    o 10+ years of commercial experience in financial crime risk management, including roles in AML, fraud prevention, sanctions compliance, or related fields.
    o Proven track record in consulting or advisory roles with top-tier financial institutions (e.g., banks, insurers, fintechs).
    o Deep understanding of financial crime laws and regulations (e.g., AMLD, FATF, GDPR, sanctions).
  • Leadership & People Management:
    o Proven experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams in a consulting environment.
    o Strong leadership presence, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
    o Ability to recruit, develop, and retain top talent in the financial crime consulting space.
  • Client Relationship & Business Development:
    o Strong client relationship management skills, including experience engaging with C-suite executives and key decision-makers in the banking and financial services sectors.
    o Demonstrated ability to generate new business, win proposals, and expand existing client relationships.
  • Project Management & Delivery Excellence:
    o Experience leading large, complex projects related to financial crime risk management, compliance audits, and regulatory implementation.
    o Ability to oversee project teams, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of solutions that meet client needs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge & Compliance:
    o Expertise in European and global financial crime regulations and best practices.
    o In-depth knowledge of industry standards, such as the FATF Recommendations, the EU's 5th and 6th Anti-Money Laundering Directives, and local regulations in the Netherlands and Europe.
