We have a fantastic opportunity for aDigital Data Analystto join us on apermanent basis, where you will play a key role in supporting brands and Mitchells and Butlers as a whole in achieving its commercial goals and objectives in a time of exciting and rapid change, where digital data is central to our growth strategy.

In this varied and challenging role, you will support the Data & Analytics Manager in delivering the Data Analytics strategy by generating key insights, monitoring performance and effectiveness of our digital activity, enabling optimisation and driving further efficiencies. Using your Analytical expertise, you will apply advanced statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and machine learning models to extract actionable insights from data, supporting business decision-making processes.

Alongside this you will actively identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within data analytics workflows and propose and test new analytical techniques or tools that could benefit the wider business, and whilst working closely with the Customer Marketing Team and Brand Marketing Managers to provide reporting, customer analytics and insight. In addition, you will also support the Data & Analytics Manager in the management of customer data as we go through an exciting period of transition from our legacy Customer Data Warehouse to a new Customer Data Platform.

AsDigital Data Analyst, you will report into our Data & Analytics Manager in an Office Flexible role, being based at our vibrant head office in Birmingham City Centre. Joining a focused and innovative wider Operational CRM Digital Marketing team, working at the home of hospitality (our head office), you may not be serving our guests, but your support will put smiles on our guests and teams faces. The Opportunity – Digital Data Analyst

Your role and responsibilities will be challenging and varied, including the following: -

Create actionable insights to support strategic decisions for customer engagement strategies, ensuring these insights are effectively communicated to key stakeholders through various formats. Develop, maintain, and improve dashboards, tracking, guest behaviour, performance of e-CRM programmes and the attainment of KPI’s. Apply statistical methods to analyse data, validate assumptions, test hypotheses and communicate the results to stakeholders. Develop and implement basic machine learning models. Use advanced visualization techniques and tools such as Plotly to create interactive and dynamic data visualizations. Develop, validate, and implement predictive models to support business decision-making. Confident in presenting data and being able to tell the story in a way that is easy to understand. Ensure compliance with data protection policies, including GDPR and PECR, by implementing best practices for the compliant processing of data. Conduct thorough analysis of multi-channel data sources to deepen the understanding of customer behaviour and identify new marketing opportunities. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate data from various sources, measuring business results and informing the development of new programs and initiatives. Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in data analytics, incorporating new techniques and tools to improve data processes and outputs. Identify and mitigate risks associated with data management, including data breaches, compliance issues, and operational risks. Collaborate with IT and other relevant departments to design and maintain a robust data architecture and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Work alongside the Digital Data Analyst and with Data & Analytics Manager to maintain day-to-day relationship with external agencies.

Strategic and analytical thinker with strong consumer insight skills. Highly numerate and enjoys keeping up with latest digital/data innovation trends. Comprehensive knowledge of data warehousing concepts, with the ability to understand and work with complex relational models. Experienced in advanced SQL querying (T-SQL) for data extraction, manipulation, and modelling. Experience with SQL-based platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Familiar with data warehousing solutions like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake. Experienced with Business Intelligence tools and dashboard creation, particularly with Power BI or with alternatives like Tableau, QlikView, or Cognos BI. Ability to design and develop interactive dashboards and reports that meet business needs. Experienced with Python or R for data analytics and automation tasks, enhancing data processing and analysis capabilities. Experienced with data manipulation libraries such as Pandas and NumPy in Python. Experienced with statistical analysis and machine learning libraries. Experienced in propensity modelling and segmentation, using advanced statistical techniques to predict customer behaviour and segment markets effectively. Knowledge of clustering algorithms, regression analysis, and classification techniques. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex data insights and support large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders. Proven track record of presenting findings to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana. Knowledge of data governance practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, PECR) to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve complex problems using data-driven approaches. Commitment to continuous improvement, seeking out innovative methods and technologies to enhance data analytics processes and outcomes. Experience working within Digital Marketing is desirable.

Qualifications;

Degree level or equivalent with a relevant numerical/analytical degree
