The team The Sales& Marketing (“Direct Acquisition”) team comprises ourMarketing, Sales and Acquitech teams. We are responsible forreaching small and advertising finance to UK small businesses ofall shapes and sizes. We do this through paid and organic marketingchannels as well as direct sales. We are an autonomous team withmarketing, sales, software development, product, design, and datascience team members. As a Data Scientist, you’ll work day to daywith team members in all functions. The role As a Data Scientist inour Direct Acquisition team, you will play a crucial role workingto set up and analyse tests, and to build statistical models. Thedata-driven insights you produce will help us develop strategies toimprove the efficiency and effectiveness of our sales andmarketing. Responsibilities: 1. Work closely with the Head ofDirect Acquisition, team and channel leads to ensure that your workaligns with business goals and achieves valuable commercialoutcomes. 2. Design experiments to compare the performance ofdifferent strategies and evaluate them to inform decisions. 3.Share your findings and modelling with the wider business to impactour strategy. 4. Independently build models to help solve ourbusiness problems, with responsibility for the solution design. 5.Promote analytical rigour within the team, ensuring that ourexperimental designs are correctly defined and that we evaluatetests without bias. 6. Participate in decision-making as iwocalives and breathes data. The projects Here are some examples ofprojects you might work on: * Setting up, monitoring and analysingsplit tests to help understand the value of marketing and salesactivities. This could include determining the return on investmentof different types of marketing strategies. * Building predictivemodels based on sales and marketing data, to determine whethercertain activities lead to a positive return. * Buildingstatistical models to enhance the ability of sales teams to doaccurate forecasting and capacity planning. The requirementsEssential: * Strong problem-solving skills in probability andstatistics. * Ability to dive deep into the business context andtranslate data into actionable insights. * Capability to manageprojects end-to-end and produce good outcomes without muchsupervision. * Proficiency with data manipulation and modellingtools — e.g., pandas, statsmodels, R. * Experience with scientificcomputing and tooling — e.g., NumPy, SciPy, R, Matlab, Mathematica,BLAS. * Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent.Bonus: * Experience implementing solutions in a productionenvironment (e.g., continuous integration). * Experience withPython. (Note: we mostly work in Python.) * Experience withBayesian statistics. The salary We expect to pay from £70,000 -£90,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitelyinclude your salary goals with your application. We routinelybenchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterlyperformance and salary reviews.
