We put customers at the heart of everything we do, using data and technology to make insurance simple, flexible, and affordable.

We care about our impact on the planet, becoming a B Corp in 2022 and offsetting our carbon emissions every year.

So far, we’ve helped 300,000 customers get better insurance and become one of the top-rated home insurance providers in the UK.

We placed 1st in Tempo's 2024 award for best startup to work for, and are in the top 10 of Deloitte’s Fast 50. We’ve raised over £43m in funding to date to help us with our mission.

We’re looking for people to join our team of kind, talented people on a mission to change the insurance industry for good.

About the role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Data Scientist to join our Data team and play a pivotal role in shaping how we leverage data at Urban Jungle.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-growth tech scaleup, making an impact on core business decisions and customer experiences from day one.

You’ll collaborate with our Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to build predictive models and data-driven solutions that power everything from eligibility checks to fraud detection, pricing, and beyond.

Here's what you'll get up to:

  • Get to grips with our data platform and begin contributing to models that power core business decisions.
  • Work on projects that span multiple areas, including pricing, risk assessment, and behavioural fraud detection.
  • Build, deploy, and iterate on data models that bring clear and measurable value to our business.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams to deliver data-driven products that delight our customers and drive business growth.
  • Play a key role in developing our state-of-the-art data platform, setting the standard for best practices in data science and analytics.
  • Build your commercial awareness by collaborating on cross-functional projects with teams across Urban Jungle.
  • Join a fun, supportive, and ambitious team where your growth and well-being are a top priority.

You've read this far! Here's what we're looking for from you:

  • 1+ years of experience in data science (or equivalent academic or personal projects).
  • A problem-solver who enjoys thinking creatively about how data can deliver value.
  • A passion for building great data products and a willingness to roll up your sleeves across the data lifecycle – from pipelining to model deployment.
  • Experience with some of the following tools and technologies (or an eagerness to learn):
    • Python and its data science ecosystem (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
    • Statistical methods and machine learning (e.g., A/B testing, model validation).
    • Data pipelining tools like SQL, dbt, BigQuery, or Spark.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to communicate technical concepts into layman’s terms for a non-technical audience.
  • You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo if it means reaching a better outcome for our customers.
  • Use your excellent time management abilities to prioritise daily tasks in accordance with overarching company goals.
  • You’re ambitious, and eager to progress quickly to grow alongside the company.
  • You apply yourself to everything you do, recognising the difference that makes to the business.
  • You treat everyone with integrity, respect and kindness - whether it’s your colleagues, our customers, or our partners.
  • You’ll be a champion of our values, and encourage others to be the same.

These requirements are a guide as to what we’re looking for, but if you don’t have all of the skills listed above, that’s okay! Please don’t let that hold you back from applying if the role excites you.

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising machine learning jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Machine Learning Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Machine learning has undergone a transformation that few technology disciplines can match. In the space of three years it has moved from a specialism sitting at the edges of most organisations' technology strategies to a capability that sits at the centre of them. The tools have changed, the expectations have shifted, and the range of industries treating machine learning as a core business function — rather than an experimental one — has expanded dramatically. For job seekers, this creates both opportunity and complexity in roughly equal measure. The machine learning jobs market of 2026 is significantly larger than it was three years ago, but it is also significantly more demanding. Employers have developed more sophisticated expectations, the technical bar for specialist roles has risen, and the landscape of tools, frameworks, and architectural patterns that practitioners are expected to know has broadened considerably. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years are those who understand where the discipline is heading — which specialisms are attracting the most investment, which technologies are reshaping what machine learning engineers and researchers are expected to build, and how the definition of a machine learning career is evolving beyond the model-building core toward a much wider range of roles across the full ML lifecycle. This article breaks down what the UK machine learning jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the curve.

This article highlights the new and high‑growth machine learning employers to watch in 2026, focusing on UK innovators, international firms with significant UK presence, and global platforms investing in machine learning talent locally.
