Map of Ag is an exciting technology company focused on data science and insights in the agriculture sector. From offices in Penrith and York, we offer services to all levels of the agrifood supply chain, including suppliers, farms, agrifood processors, retailers and industry professionals.

Map of Ag are looking to recruit an experienced Data Scientist, to join our data analytics team. The successful candidate will employ a range of cutting-edge data science techniques and technologies to build, maintain and validate data solutions and insights that support the Client Services and Product teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and maintaining interactive analytics dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, for internal teams & clients
  • Build and optimise intelligent surveys that ensure a smooth and efficient collection of real-world data
  • Efficient processing and mining of large datasets from various sources using intelligent criteria and mapping rules
  • Manipulating datasets and building/maintaining models to add value and generate key performance indicators
  • Supporting the Account Management team to ensure they have information & reports available to share with clients as required
  • Analysing the datasets collected to respond to specific queries from colleagues & clients

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years' experience in a data science, analyst, or similar technical role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or a similar data visualisation tool is highly desirable
  • Experience designing intelligent surveys is highly desirable but not essential
  • Strong Python and MS Excel capabilities. Knowledge of JavaScript, R, SQL, VBA, git, machine-learning or optimisation algorithms preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to utilize statistical & data analysis methodologies to extract hidden insights from large complex datasets with excellent attention to detail. Mechanistic or empirical modelling experience desirable but not essential
  • Capable of working effectively within an agile team environment with evidence of excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and able to liaise with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders, including account managers and IT developers
  • Background in agriculture or a STEM degree is advantageous but not essential.
