Job Description

At Evelyn Partners, we are expanding our Data Services team, investing in a large-scale modernisation programme to drive innovation and insights. We’re building a new team to enhance data modelling, reporting, AI initiatives, and cloud data platforms like Snowflake.

As part of our transformation, we’re growing our analytics capability to help develop the understanding of commercial performance and take the business to the next level. This means exciting opportunities for learning, upskilling, and working with the latest technologies.

These roles can be based in Liverpool or Glasgow, with the requirement to be in the office to collaborate with colleagues twice a week.

What will you be doing?

As a Data Scientist, you will provide insightful analysis and data on client (customer) activity across Evelyn Partners. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the understanding of the client and take the business to the next level, using your advanced analytics and data science skills to do so. We are at the start of a transformation journey and the role would suit ambitious and inquisitive individuals keen to show an organisation how to realise value from data.

As a Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Explore existing and new data and use your advanced knowledge of statistical models, machine learning and data science techniques to be able to perform descriptive, inferential, and predictive analytics
  • Find patterns in data and transform them into organisational insight, building effective visualizations to present data explorations
  • Make recommendations to address complex problems and to inform strategic and operational decision making
  • Use data ethically and appropriately and be innovative and adaptable
  • Develop understanding of new and prospective clients, particularly around acquisition, retention and churn
  • Build and manage a roadmap of analytics and insights projects collaborating with the rest of the Insights team and other stakeholders to do so
  • Build understanding of key drivers of performance trends based on a hypothesis-driven approach, backed-up by robust statistical analysis

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should:

Applied maths, statistics and scientific practices:

  • Applying analytical methods including exploratory data analysis, visualisation and statistical testing to reach accurate conclusions.
  • Using analytical approaches to interpret data confidently.
  • Has the ability to summarise and describe data to support decision making.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Analytics, or relevant field;
  • Proven experience as a Data scientist

Data science innovation:

  • Has the ability to apply data science innovation in the approach to new questions, opportunities, data and techniques by using an inquisitive approach.
  • Has the ability to apply data science innovation to produce creative solutions to problems.

Delivering business impact:

  • Understands processes, data and strategic priorities.
  • Can apply data science techniques to produce and present data science products.
  • Has the ability to design solutions that meet user needs, allowing for design and ethics standards.

Developing data science capability:

  • Has the ability to work with other data scientists and developers to share skills.
  • Enable a team to access the right technologies to create products.
  • Develop your own data science skills.

Ethics and privacy:(data science).

  • Has the ability to understand and comply with frameworks, standards and laws, including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act (DPA) and the Equalities Act.

Programming and build: (data science).

  • Deep demonstrable knowledge of SQL, Python and PowerBI
  • Experience with Azure datalake and databricks (or similar) highly desirable
  • Have the ability to use programming tools to undertake analysis and create scalable data products.
  • You can document and test code to ensure its quality.
  • You can understand the organisation's tech stack and get code into production by working with developers and architects.
  • You can show data science is used effectively to support products and services.
