Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Modeller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data modelling within the manufacturing and supply chain sectors. This role requires a deep understanding of data structures, business processes, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust data models that drive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Modelling and Design:
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business operations in manufacturing and supply chain.
- Ensure data models adhere to best practices and support the organization's data architecture and governance standards.
Data Integration:
- Collaborate with data engineers and ETL developers to design data flows and integrations between systems.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across diverse systems and data sources.
Requirements Gathering:
- Work closely with business analysts, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to understand business needs.
- Translate business requirements into scalable data models.
Collaboration:
- Partner with IT, data scientists, and business teams to ensure alignment of data models with business objectives.
- Provide guidance on data-related best practices, including normalization, indexing, and performance optimisation.
Documentation and Governance:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, including metadata, data dictionaries, and lineage.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
Performance Optimisation:
- Analyse and optimize data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Identify and address potential bottlenecks in data pipelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in data modelling, with a focus on manufacturing and supply chain domains.
- Strong understanding of ERP, MRP, and supply chain management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with data warehousing and big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Hadoop).
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle complex data challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
