THE JOB
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineering Manager to join and lead our growing Data Engineering team and play a critical role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure.
As a member of the Data Science and Engineering leadership team, you will be key in driving the technical strategy and vision for data infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and overseeing the delivery of complex data-related projects.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data platforms and tools, as well as experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Lead the Data Engineering team in delivering high-quality data solutions that meet business needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, Product, and Business stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure effective communication of data-related projects
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's data landscape, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation
Define and implement the technical strategy for data infrastructure, including design, development, deployment, and maintenance of large-scale data systems
Oversee the delivery of complex data-related projects, ensuring timely completion, quality, and adherence to budget and resource constraints
Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning within the Data Engineering team
Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development
Ensure compliance with data security and privacy policies, and implement appropriate access controls and data governance frameworks
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant experience hands-on with data engineering
Strong hands-on knowledge of data platforms and tools, including Databricks, Spark, and SQL
Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes
Good knowledge of ML ops principles and best practices to deploy, monitor and maintain machine learning models in production
Familiarity with Git CI/CD and MLflow for managing and tracking code deployment or model versions
Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform
Nice to have:
Experience with Kafka
Proven track record of leading large scale data infrastructure in production
Experience with container technologies (such as Docker) and orchestration technologies (such as Kubernetes)
Experience working in ecommerce or retail industries
An understanding of security measures related to ML models ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations
YOU (BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex data infrastructure issues
Proficient collaborating with data scientists and operational teams to understand their requirements and assist implementation of complex data pipelines
A deep product focused mindset, with a desire to understand your customers and what will make their use of your output easier and more efficient
Curious by nature, enjoy looking into problems around your core tasks, experimenting with potential solutions
