A bit about the job:

Spearhead the creation and implementation of robust data engineering standards and capabilities that seamlessly support and enhance the business product line, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.

Efficiently oversee resources, projects, and delivery timelines for key data engineering initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Strategically align data engineering efforts with business product lines, managing expectations and fostering collaboration across various initiatives to achieve unified goals and drive business success.

Develop and execute comprehensive strategies at the business unit level that prioritize value generation, identify additional workstreams, and uncover new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Provide expert support for technology and architecture requirements, ensuring compliance with data governance frameworks and adherence to EUC guidelines, while driving forward the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Possess a profound understanding of data engineering techniques and their practical application to solve complex business issues, with strong proficiency in languages such as SQL and Python.

Demonstrate exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences to ensure alignment and collaboration.

Exhibit a strong drive to discover new opportunities and innovative solutions to business challenges through data, continuously seeking ways to leverage data for strategic advantage.

Maintain a keen curiosity to identify new techniques and opportunities for reuse across the business, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification (MSc) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, providing a solid foundation for advanced data engineering practices and methodologies.

Startingsalary£70,000 to £90,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)

Bonus opportunity 10% of annual salary - Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
