About The Role

SALARY: From £48,109 pa dependent on experience


LOCATION: Milton Keynes


HYBRID WORKING: Our current hybrid working policy requires a minimum of 60% of working time to be based in the Milton Keynes office however flexibility is expected to meet the needs of the business and the role.


HOURS / CONTRACT TYPE: Full time, permanent

This role is responsible for delivering against the company-wide data strategy, using solutions to demonstrate the future capabilities of data engineering. Utilising a unique set of skills and applying innovative approaches to data preparation, this role is expected to optimise and prepare current data structures to satisfy business outcomes.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and upskill the Data and BI Development team, coaching them in innovative data preparation techniques to ensure readiness for future data strategy objectives.
  • Design, build and optimise data pipelines, extracting data from diverse sources, transforming it effectively and loading it into appropriate storage solutions.
  • Showcase advanced data preparation methods across the organisation, providing insight into future capabilities needed to support strategic data goals.
  • Mentor junior BI Developers, ensuring their technical skills remain current and aligned with industry‑standard BI development practices.
  • Demonstrate the value of data engineering by delivering solutions that highlight efficiency, scalability and improved business outcomes.
  • Define and support the creation of robust data pipeline architecture, enabling development teams to deliver solutions more securely and efficiently.
  • Assemble large and complex datasets that fulfil both functional and non‑functional business requirements.
  • Lead the identification, design, and implementation of process improvements, enhancing throughput and accelerating value delivery across BI development initiatives.

Essential experience & skills

  • Expertise in ETL/ELT with industry standard tools: Informatica Cloud (IDMC) and SAP Data Services.
  • Proven end-to-end Data Engineering experience: working with large‑scale datasets, building data models and developing and optimising big data pipelines.
  • Advanced SQL experience, preferably PL/SQL, including experience with relational databases, writing complex queries and working with a range of database technologies.
  • A high‑level skill in data and BI reporting: SAP Business Objects and Tableau with ability to support diverse stakeholders for their reporting and business needs.
  • Strong ability to perform root cause analysis on data and operational processes to address business questions and uncover improvement/optimisation opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing processes, data transformation, manipulating, processing and extracting value from large and often disparate datasets.
  • Training or Certification in any of the above Technology Stack including knowledge of Python programming would be seen as a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced or evolving environment is essential for the role.
