Our client is an international, privately owned, high growth technology services company, serving the world’s most respected financial institutions. They’re hiring a Python Data Engineer to join their Internal Audit Data Team in Birmingham.

This is a high-trust role for someone who thrives in complex, regulated environments and knows how to deliver high-performance data pipelines in the cloud.

Role

  • You’ll build robust data infrastructure to enable smarter audit and risk insights.
  • You’ll design scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in Python (with PySpark) and orchestrate them using tools like Databricks and Snowflake.
  • You’ll work with structured and unstructured data across the firm, integrating APIs, batch loads, and real-time streams.
  • Your work will power cross-functional audit teams, so documentation, data lineage, and reproducibility will be key.
  • Expect hands-on collaboration with stakeholders, ownership of quality checks, and a strong focus on data governance, compliance, and cloud optimisation.

Qualifications

* 3+ years of Python-based data engineering experience

* Proven experience with Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent big data platforms

* Hands-on ETL/ELT experience across cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP

* Strong grasp of data governance, lineage, security, and quality checks

* Experience working in regulated or audit-heavy environments (finance a plus)

* The ability to communicate with both tech and non-tech stakeholders
