Contract Data Engineer – £550/day (Outside IR35) – Hybrid (London) – 6-Month Initial Term

Our client is seeking an experienced

Data Engineer

to join our team on a

contract basis

to support the development and optimisation of our data infrastructure within the energy trading sector. This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background in cloud-based data engineering, particularly with

Databricks

and

AWS , who is looking to contribute to a high-impact project from day one.

Key Details:
Day Rate : £550/day
IR35 Status : Outside IR35
Contract Length : 6-month initial term (potential for extension)
Location : Hybrid working, with attendance required at the London office on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks and AWS services
Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver reliable solutions
Contribute to the development and maintenance of a modern data platform
Ensure data quality, integrity, and performance across data pipelines and systems
Participate in the continuous improvement of engineering best practices, tools, and processes

Essential Experience:
Proven commercial experience with

Databricks

(including AKS)
Strong hands-on experience with

AWS
Proficient in Python and/or Scala for data pipeline development
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL best practices

Desirable Experience:
Exposure to

Power BI

for data visualisation and dashboarding
Experience within the

energy trading

sector, particularly the

power market , is a strong advantage

Understanding of market data flows and trading systems in the energy domain
