About the Role

With a passion for data and an innate curiosity, the Data Engineer will have a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines. They will be responsible for creating robust data integration solutions, automating data workflows, and collaborating with business users to understand and meet their data needs. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement in performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.


The role is cross‑functional, requiring excellent communication with technical specialists, data owners, and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain data platforms and architectures
  • Build robust data integration solutions, including ETL processes, data pipelines, and data mappings to facilitate the movement of data between systems and platforms
  • Design and build data models including a Master Data Management layer to support analytical and operational outcomes
  • Automate data workflows such as data ingestion, aggregation, and ETL processing
  • Collaborate with business users and analysts to understand data needs
  • Pro‑actively identify areas of improvement related to performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of the data estate
  • Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to address data issues
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting

What will you bring?

  • 2‑5 years’ experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of developing data platform solutions
  • Strong experience working with Microsoft data products such as Azure data services (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, SQL) and Microsoft Fabric and/or Power BI
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, data integration, and ETL processes
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases and database design
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with a curious and analytical mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders
  • A positive and solution‑focused approach to tasks and projects

Highly desirable to have one or more of the following Microsoft certifications:

  • Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • Power BI Data Analyst Associate
  • Experience with any of the following querying languages: Python, DAX, Power Query M
