Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to become a key player in our innovative and dynamic squad in Data Services.

CDL has spearheaded developments in the aggregator, web and telematics space, including connected home, enrichment and self-service solutions. As a result, the company's robust and innovative technologies have enabled its customers to thrive in the highly competitive UK insurance marketplace.

In a nutshell we are the market leading software house in our industry, creating the software, websites & apps for the Insurance & Finance sector across the UK. If you were to go on a price comparison website, approximately 65% of the companies on there are our clients!

Key Responsibilities
Manage relational databases, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Investigate and resolve database performance issues promptly, minimising downtime and disruptions.
Contribute to small-to-medium projects.
Implement CI/CD pipelines and build resources in AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support our data infrastructure, with a strong focus on automation.
Mentor engineers within the squad, providing technical knowledge transfer sessions and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Research and introduce new products and tools to enhance our data engineering capabilities.
Apply good engineering practices and maintain a continuous improvement mindset towards the products you manage.
Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, demonstrating problem-solving and analytical skills.
Operate within Agile methodologies to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum of 2 years' experience with AWS.
Experience in managing relational databases.
Skilled in SQL.
Understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD).
Experience with automation pipelines and testing tools.
Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
AWS certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner are a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant industry experience.

Databases: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL
AWS: RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3, ECS, KMS, VPC, Security Groups, Subnet Groups, Route 53, IAM, Lambda, Quicksight, Amazon Q, and more
Infrastructure: GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Docker
Monitoring: Dynatrace, Amazon RDS Performance Insights, AWS CloudWatch
Languages: Bash, Python, SQL, PSQL
Issue/Incident Tracking: Jira, ServiceNow
