Location: Belfast, United Kingdom


Role: Data Engineer in PA Consulting’s Digital & Data community. You will work with product, design and cross-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative software solutions and data-driven insights for clients. The role involves designing and implementing data pipelines, leveraging cloud technologies, and contributing to a culture of learning and growth.


Responsibilities

  • Work to agile best practices and collaborate cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Design and deploy production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within a big data architecture using Java, Python, Scala, Spark, and SQL.
  • Develop data integrations by writing scripts, extracting data via APIs, and crafting SQL queries.
  • Process large volumes of structured and unstructured data, integrating data from multiple sources on AWS cloud (native or custom solutions).
  • Design and build for the AWS cloud and participate in a technology stack that supports scalable, high-performance applications.
  • Engage in live in-person whiteboarding sessions and collaborative problem solving with teams, including client interactions.
  • Contribute to a culture of learning with opportunities for courses and certifications; utilization of a budget for technical and non-technical training.

Qualifications

  • Essentials: strong problem-solving and analytical thinking; ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience designing and deploying production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption in a big data architecture using Java, Python, Scala, Spark, and SQL.
  • Experience writing scripts, working with APIs, and constructing SQL queries.
  • Experience processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data, including integrating data from multiple sources on AWS using AWS native tools or equivalent programming approaches.
