About the Job As a Data Engineer specialising in Azure Synapse Data Pipelining, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining data movement pipelines using Azure Synapse to facilitate the smooth transfer of data across our internal systems. You will collaborate closely with our already well established team and process to ensure the timely and accurate movement of data to support various business operations and analytical initiatives. The role and your responsibilities Design, develop, and implement data movement pipelines leveraging Azure Synapse to transfer data efficiently and securely between internal systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data model requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Design and develop robust data models tailored to the health and social care domain, enabling effective analysis and insights generation to address critical healthcare questions. Optimise and streamline data movement processes to enhance performance and reliability. Develop and maintain documentation related to data movement pipelines and data models, ensuring clarity and accessibility for stakeholders. Monitor data movement pipelines for performance issues and troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies throughout the data movement process. Stay abreast of the latest developments in Azure Synapse and related technologies to continuously improve data movement capabilities and data modelling techniques. Required experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on using Azure Synapse or similar technologies. Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data modelling concepts. Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse, including familiarity with Synapse SQL, Apache Spark pools, and data integration capabilities. Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools such as Azure Data Factory. Solid understanding of cloud computing principles and experience with Azure services. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
