Responsibilities

  • Deliver key data products via SAS that drive operational performance within the Child Maintenance Service and ongoing Policy reforms.
  • Lead the incident and problem management process.
  • Lead as a subject matter expert in the migration of the SAS data products to a new technology stack, including Cloudera, Informatica and Cloud based technologies.
  • Receive appropriate training in the new technology stack.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an exciting, cross functional team delivering innovative data products for the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) via SAS technologies, a new strategic Big Data technology stack (Cloudera, Informatica and Qlik Sense) and machine learning technologies. The team consists of approximately 30 people, mainly based in Newcastle upon Tyne.


SAS Environment

  • Deliver complex business critical BAU data products to challenging monthly timescales, by managing the SAS codebase ensuring clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.


  • Undertake data analysis, data profiling, or problem resolution.


  • Lead the response to technical problems in databases, data processes, data products and services as they occur and coordinate these across the team ensuring reactive and robust solutions and escalations.

    • Ensure issues and risks raised are resolved in an appropriate manner.

    Big Data Environment

    • Work closely with Data Solution Designers and Testers to migrate the SAS products to the new infrastructure, undertaking data profiling and using your subject matter expertise on the SAS product set.


    • Receive appropriate training in the new technology stack.


    • Own the design and development of new ETL code, delivering all aspects of the code set development to meet customer needs to agreed timescales, ensuring solutions are robust and scalable.


    • Implement, maintain, and ensure adherence to coding standards.


    • Communicate effectively across both technical and business stakeholders.


    • Work with testers and designers to identify defects and resolutions.


    • Support Data Managers responsible for live running of data products and services.


    • Support Business Analysts in completing impact assessments on core system functional changes, impacting where the functional change could impact current data architecture and new data requirements.
